Saved this one. Put over 100,000 miles on it myself so far. Had over 100,000 when I got it 36 years ago.[IMG]

  2. Rather three windows than 4 doors…

One of my hotrods is a 4 door, and I prefer 2 doors myself, especially coupes. But considering how tough this year Austin was to find I couldn't be too picky. I took what I could find and worked with it.

The 1st car I drove was my dad's 64 4 door Oldsmobile. In high school (72-74 driving years), all my buddies had 2 door cars. When ever the 4 of us got together to go anyplace, we took the 4 door Olds because it was easier to get in or out of. It didn't hurt that the 394 (4 bbl) in the Olds ran pretty strong. None of my buddy's 2 door cars could stand up to the performance of the Olds. Even with 4 guys in the car, the Olds was still a contender in our little burg. We had a lot of fun in that 4 door car.
Currently, I have a 2 door coupe, a 2 door truck, and my wife's 4 door appliance. Her 4 door is the only ride we can used if we have a 3rd passenger. I'm not opposed to 4 door cars, these days its about all you can buy.

When I bought my 62 Bel Air 21 years ago as a teenager I was searching for a 4-door or wagon, as you didn't see them at the time and I thought they were cool. I became the second registered owner, and it still wears its original paint and interior. It was all stock and original when I got it.

It was definitely not babied in its short 8 years on the road as a farm vehicle.

Now with a young kid, it's a good family car again.

The 55 is our favorite holiday and roadtrip car. I have put 80k miles on it since I brought her home in ´15. Only did brakes, shocks and bushings and had the interior done last year. Other than that the 235 and OD 3 speed are dead reliable and great for long cruises.

I do understand the love for 2 doors and coupes, but am also willing to respect 4drs. There are so many beautiful and most of all, practical and useful moredoors. I love 1930s phaetons. imho with 52-54 Fords the 4drs are one of the best balanced body style in the lot. 4dr ht Impalas are a thing (I had a 65 before)!
    It's great to pile in a bunch of friends or family and go cruising. here's mine. 57cs s1508.jpg 57cs s1185.jpg 57cs s1233.jpg 57cs s1562.jpg

IMG_1036.jpeg I’ve had a few, and they make great “affordable” hot rods and cruisers. Not all of us 1651.jpeg 1598.jpeg 1661.jpeg can budget highly collectible two doors. (I’ve had a few of those too…)

90,000 mile 1962 Cadillac. I sold this around 1990 for $2500.00 :(. great car, everything worked, ice cold AC, perfect black leather interior. this Caddy and my 61 Dodge were my daily drivers. I was so cool back then.. what happened?o_O

I'm the 4th owner on this 40,000 mile Fordor, sporting 50 year old lacquer repaint.

I've owned the car since 2012 and have been continuously working to make it a better car, while trying to maintain it's character.

Back in the fifties the 2 door models were usually sportier looking and were used to lure people into the showrooms. The big sellers were usually the 4 door models sold to families. As a young guy if you were driving a 4 door it usually meant you were using your mom or dad's car. Today you see quite a few 4 doors being converted. As a 1957 Plymouth owner only certain models can be converted. The 2 door hardtops have their own roof as does the 4 door hardtops which is also a one up design. The four door sedans and 2 door sedans use the same roof so you could convert one. I have owned a few 57/58 Plymouth 4 door sedans that I used as daily drivers. I have owned the one in my avatar since 1964, but if it was the only one, I had, I would want a 2 door hardtop. That being said I have no problem with 4 door cars.

A HAMBer was recently visiting me, and when talking about my 62 4-door sedan he said that it resonated with him because years ago when he was younger the mix of 2-doors to 4-doors was maybe 1 out of 10 or 20. Going to car shows and seeing mainly 2-doors celebrates only the small portion of the cars actually seen in the day was his point, and preserving 4-doors is more reflective of what was actually driven the most back then.

I thought it was a fresh perspective.

To quote @anthony myrick , "I'd drive it". You've done an exceptionally good job with it.
