Are trickle chargers bad for lead acid batteries in the long run.

Not good trickle chargers. Battery Tender makes a very good trickle charger.

I run Schumacher battery tenders on 7 vehicles all winter. IMO the batteries last much longer than without a tender.

My trailer winch battery is about 12 years old and it still holds a charge and runs the winch fine. It’s been on a Battery Tender trickle charger for the whole time except when in use. Then it might be off the charger for days.

When you have a good one and it is working right it only works when the battery drops a tad and needs to be charged back up again. I need one for the batteries in my boat.
