This Wed. will be the season end for our Wed. night cruise and drags at PIR. I still refer to it as Beaches, even though they have a new name under track management now. If past history holds the turnouts on the last evening for a nice day will be around 2000 cars, and weather looks fantastic at 80 degrees! I'm sure guys will be lined up at noon for the 3:00p.m. opening time, and likely they'll open the gates early if the waiting line gets too long! Last week they opened up 20 minutes early due to a long line! See some of you there I hope!
Man, I wish I could make that. I got my wings clipped temporarily. Can't drive. Can't putt either but it's the other kind of driving that has me pissed. Dizzy shit. I wouldn't wish on anyone. Have a good time over there and take some pics for those of us that are riding the recliner.
The issue has been that PIR hasn't felt fit to advertise it on PDX Car Culture or Cruise News. More than one person has told them to post it at both sites that list all car shows, but they still haven't done so. Both places know about the Wed. night cruise, but have told me until PIR contacts them they wont list it.
Hadn't heard that, but that might be because they're not donating to the same charities Mark and Ali did?
I am not a definitive source but I know the Slo Poks were the 1st show sponsor club as per usual. I didn't make a single show this year and I am embarrassed to admit it. We are fortunate to have a weekly event and I should have attended if for nothing more than support. My bad.
Yeah, those are the guys that pay the bills. Much like a female orgasm, I haven't any idea how that works.
That happens with too many events these days. The people putting the event on think that folks remember when the event is and just go but even those who have gone to the same events for years have to be reminded. I just checked the PIR FB page (s) and nada, not one thing about it.
Since it's always been Wed. night from June to October, I can't imagine why anyone needed a reminder. I know at the first in June this year there were literally hundreds of guys who had heard Beaches was over when it ended last year. But it's been all summer and many people finally discovered it didn't end last summer, yet numbers have remained lower. I haven't missed a Wed. night this summer, and turnouts have been good on numerous nights. Last Wed. it looked like people thought it might be raining this week and turnout was huge. I know most of us there were talking that sketchy weather might make it the last one, but mid 80's today predicted, so I hope there's a good turnout like the first and last Wed. always are.
Any pictures of last night's activities for us home bodies? Cars? Food? Cruise-in chicks? Anything will do. Quite bored over here. You can just post pictures of something else and tell me it was from last night, I won't mind.
Gaining a day is probably better then loosing a day. Its possible to make tomorrow better then today was.
From what I have heard as I am part of the MHRC, the name change has been one of the massive problems, second is that the lady now doing the promoting and work leaned more into social media for advertising. As for PDX Car Culture, I have a good idea of the reason why its not posted there and I will leave it at that. Not sure the reason for NWCAM not posting it. It will be interesting to see if it makes it more than one more year. I know the costs for the event have went bonkers with the new management and its been struggling to make profit.
Dave told me he has no problem posting the Wed. night cruises at PDX Car Culture, or any cruises around our area. But he wont post any cruise unless someone involved in them sends him the info. He knows all the details for this cruise, but refuses to post them until the woman running them contacts him. And Dave also does a competing cruise in downtown Gresham every Wed. night in the summer, so he's fine with not posting the PIR cruise if she wont ask him too. I've asked Dave why he didn't just choose Tue. or Thu. so guys could attend both, but he wants to keep Wed. as an option for people in Gresham area who don't want to drive to North Portland to PIR.
Didn't get to walk around at all. My buddy showed up using a walker after a trip to OHSU, so we had to stay by the cars and just lounge around. But it was a full house from what I could tell. Cars kept coming in even as I was leaving around 7:00p.m.
