when I built Cheep, I took people's advice to weld the tubes to the center of the 8.8 Ford rear.

Years ago a friend's Camaro rolled the center section, he had an 8.5" 10 bolt in it. He was racing at the time, and the driveshaft to floor carnage was awful.

It's one of those things you think won't ever happen to you! and it doesn't, if you have a 9" rear

I remember seeing the pictures and reading it. But close to 11 through the week, I’m anywhere between a 12-24 pack in to remember the exact details lol.

Been wanting to hit Lloyd fest. I took over running a body shop. I know @The_Cat_Of_Ages is just north of me. Finally got things squared down where I might make gathering at the roc this year, didn’t make Lloyd fest. But if cats down I’d like to meet up with him and make our way down next year.

I’m not past meeting up with you somewhere. Between the two of us, we will break down somewhere. The extra hand and company is what makes a good trip.

I’m the guy that finished a Camaro without really finishing the fuel system. Got half way to jegs in Columbus, ran out of gas. Did a 10 mile walk for gas, made it back with less than 20 minutes to closing at jegs. Went to buy parts for a mustang I was working on. But that’s the stuff I remember and it was a better time with a friend of mine than about any family experience I can remember.

Yeah, Lloyd, I was thinking you need more stuff to work on! Lol, that light little Falcon could fly down the track. Yours has the roofline I like the best. The larger, more formal C pillar on some like the one pictured is my second choice.

It will be interesting to see how YouTuber Titus’s (Tucson Az) Diamond T Truck does at the Duct Tape Drags. Very questionable welds on the rear end.
    See you there to see.

Have I ever said I hate AI (auto correct)! It does not help memory loss.

I picked up a 94 explorer 8.8 for free. Drum brakes. 2 short axles with Chevy bolt pattern are $250, 4.56 gear from summit is $200, and a mini spool is $100. Weld the tubes and let it go! $550. Well, plus brake parts and gear oil. ;)

And once you cut the one side, it makes it 56.75", which is about perfect since the factory rear was 56"

sounds like the way to go. I couldn't find a brake drum rear so I got discs, either one will work great.

Me and Dusty messed around with the falcon for a little bit. Pulled the small block out. 20250927_120506.jpg 20250927_120514.jpg 20250927_161943.jpg

Then it’ll need at least a 6-point roll bar with other mandatory safety equipment.

only if it goes faster than 11.50, and then only a 5 point bar...

I don't think it'll take much to make that little foul quick & fun! Yeah, SBC since you're knee deep in em at the moment!

I know my eye's aren't what they used to be but, what exactly are those front shocks supposed to be connected to? Am I missing something here or is the car missing something there?
