I can't "like" your last post. :( But I'm really enjoying following your build!

I'd have done a swap deal with you on helping with the bodywork for you helping with my engine but (i) we're 4500 miles away (I'm in Austria) and (ii) the engine in my car was made by the "other tribe" ;)

Been a while since I posted so I figured I'd update.

The heads are in machine shop prison. He said he'd take care of it but I have not heard anything back yet. The car is in chassis shop prison and I'm told he's close to being done.

I sent the rear bumper brackets out to be blasted and I got some paint on them. I know, booorrrring, but it checks something off the list.

That’s sad. Easy fix with the heads,

Car is back from the chassis shop. Here's some pics of the chrome moly 8-point roll bar with a swing out side bar. We used an S&W kit which I would not recommend. The bars didn't locate where we wanted them so we ended up buying more tubing. The head rest is required to be NHRA legal with a bench seat.

Here's a few pics of the rear suspension upgrades.

In this shot you can see the addition of the second upper control arm.
    Rear Suspension.jpg

This is the new lower control arm front mount. It's lowered about 3" which corrected the geometry.

This is the Global West Suspension panhard mount which levels the bar.

This is the Global West shock crossmember. The upper shock mounts are no longer just deadheaded off the side of the frame.

Here is the bracing for the front of the control arms. The upper is a Global West piece, we made the lowers.

I intend to make some new upper control arms and relocate them as necessary to correct the geometry but I won't do that until the car is close to completed weight and I install the 12 bolt rearend.

Don’t you need a brace for the back of the seat? Had to have one for my Nova when I was racing stock.

A little update. After 7 weeks of waiting, I picked the heads up from the machine shop yesterday. I haven't checked things out yet but the machinist says they're good to go. Hopefully this setback is behind me.

In the chassis shop post, I forgot to mention that since he has a lift, he installed the urethane body mounts.

I got the valve train assembled (finally). I was able to use up a few hand-me-down parts from my race car which is always a plus.

Haven't had much shop time this summer but here's an update...

I got some small parts glass beaded and painted.
    IMG_7343.jpg

I put my rear bumper together. It's all individual swap meet pieces. Driver quality but a nice, straight future candidate for a re-chrome. I tried to save an old plate panel but gave up and bought a new one.
    IMG_7342.jpg

And I pretty much have the engine together.

Bumper looks nice, so does the engine.

I just weighed the rear bumper on my car and it weighs 52 lbs. This thing needs to go on a diet.

Yea, I'm figuring 100 lbs for both bumpers. I like where the rear one puts the weight. I'm trying to figure out how to coble on the front and still be Stock Eliminator legal, lol.

So far I've chopped the channel off of the reinforcement. Trying to figure out where I can put the hole saw to work where it can't be seen, lol.

Is there a reason it can't be seen?

Man, I like that engine, sure reminds me of some I helped build. Keep up the good work.

I'm trying to keep the car legal for NHRA Stock Eliminator. They require full factory bumpers and no gutting.

That's a thought. I'll have to look into it.
