As far as a "smogger" carb:

California law went in to effect for the 1966 model year. Generally, 1966 California carbs differ in calibration from their 1966 Federal counterparts. This is true of the Corvair.

Federal law went in to effect for the 1968 model year.

Virtually all passenger carbs (including the Corvair) were re-calibrated for smog in the 1968 model year. So the 1968 Corvair carbs differ from the Federal 1967 carbs.

  6. also, ive given up on mechanical fuel pumps for corvairs, all my research says that they are all junk, i really want to get old school electric fuel pumps, but chances are none will work for very long. will this get a pass despite not being traditional?

So, what are the future plans for the Corvairs? They seem kind of neglected.

  14. i know, project jump is killing me. they are mothballed and on plastic, im going to make a structure over them so they are protected.

    currently im making a daily.

You ever make a daily? BTW, I did lots of spring calculations and digging through catalogs. I have a Corvair Monza Wagon that came with cut/mangled springs. I was able to spec out some springs that work out just like factory ones, but from more modern cars. I think I'm using rear Altima springs in the front, and front Focus springs in the back. Each purchased for around $40 a PAIR with free shipping. It beats paying $500-600 to Clarks for the same thing. Anyway, it's nice to see my wagon sitting properly again.

  16. i ended up in over my head at 18, was more in depth than i thought, daily is currently a 96 vic i got at auction for 800 bucks.

good to know that info. my poor corvairs are mothballed still, waiting til im finished with my apprenticeship and have my own shop to work on them, the black one especially needs a rotisserie.

I’d get the tan one running and driving then stopping reliably and use it as a summer daily.
