My OT convertible I've owned for 35 years now, A very nice survivor car, now 65 K miles, Never been in winter weather, I do not remember even getting caught in the rain, a Sunny day cruiser only. 89 Camaro RS with all the bells/whistles, 305 FI, 5 speed, 3:42 posi. Now 77 with arthritis it has become a problem getting in-out of it. When purchased I joked about creating my own classic, mission accomplished. I'm now a old fart/classic. My 29 Roadster on 32 rails, 99 thru 2007/8. This pic is at Slinger speedway 2002 or so, a yearly car show at the track on a race night. My good friend Randy Ninnaman and I "hot lapping" during intermission, notice my smile, I raced there in Midgets back in the 70's, Memories, Priceless ! 504812617_2969682173241000_4885764527942299534_n.jpg

Those convertible 4th gens are rare. I had a few t-top IROCs and GTA transams but never a convertible.

Here's one for you Olds fans out there. A guy I met a few years back at the local watering hole remembered my number and called me last night with this for sale. It's a 442 ragtop, white with a black top and guts. No options. Actually, less than no options, someone ordered it with a bench seat and column shift automatic (you got a credit for that). Been in storage for 40 years. Numbers match other than the rear axle that replaced decades ago to get better gas mileage during the 70s. It's complete but old. Hmmm

The 82-92 Gen 3 Camaro/Firebird were an off assembly line finished coupe car converted at another plant to a convertible. Very pricey option $4500, I seem to remember low production #'s vary from year to year, 84-92. Outstanding GM Engineering, take a unibody car and cut the roof off and add a 1/2 ass roll pan riveted to the floor pan where the frame would be in between front and back sub frames, flexible flyer is an under statement. I'm a GM guy, SBC forever. One of my OT cars for cruising/shows is a 2001 Cadillac Eldorado ESC coupe, a beautiful original car I purchased in AZ, the only fault is the 4.6 NorthStar V8 , another GM better idea. Again I the like car and still a GM guy. Funny my Hot Rods were Fords, 29 Roadster, 32 3 widow, 51 Merc. and I don't have Ford blue blood.

That's why they are rare, they fell apart. It goes back a few pages when I said the first gen Camaros were the same car, hardtops with the roofs cut off, a X brace bolted on the underside and cocktail shakers in the quarters to try to keep it one piece. T-top cars were worse, they didn't even brace them. I too love GM cars, spent most of my life playing with them. Well constructed? Nada. Body by Fisher? Joke (reminds me of Fisher audio equipment they sold at cheapo stereo stores). Good looking cars? Oh yeah. Bring the dollars at auction? Hell yes!
