Lets kick an anthill. You can have only one of the vintage Chevy (or GMC bretherin).
Which do you choose based on looks alone?

I voted for the 47-55 Advanced design. I have the parts to build one. I bought a 56 to rebuild and gave it to my son......so I could have had either choice. I also really like the 37 Chevy .

The AD trucks are too stodgy, the 60s trucks are too boxy. The Task Force trucks are goldilocks.

I like my '62 C10; it has a good chassis and is comfortable to drive over long distances.

Yeah, but you really need a crew-cab, so the wife has somewhere to sit while the dog is riding up front. Of course, there's always the bed of the truck.;)

  9. Smooth, sexy curves and fat fenders have always lit the furnace in my loins. When I was a kid in the early 1950s, there was a home-delivery bread company called Peter Wheat Bread Co. that would crawl through the neighborhood in their AD panel trucks. Every time I spotted one of 'em, it put me in a thrall until it was out of sight.
Seventy years later, I figured I'd waited long enough, so I bought the one that's in my garage now.

This is a hard decision to make; I like all three categories, but if I must pick only one category, I pick the TF 55-59.

This AD’s bed is too hard.
This TF’s bed is too soft.
This C10’s bed is just right.

I really like the TF’s body style it lends itself to all sorts of builds like hot rods, customs, and God forbid more modern style of build. To me it’s the prettiest truck GM built

Well I voted AD for obvious reasons but have always wanted a 55/57 3100 Big window but never had the money when one came up. As far as Chevy trucks I have had a 59 El Camino, 67 3100 with 327 and every bell and whistle, My 48 bought in 1973, 57 3100 panel truck with a wild 327 in it that would give 750 hondas a run for their money stop light to stop light, 70 C10, 77 K30, 64 C10, 71 GMC 2500, 77 C30. Plus at least 3 67/72 C 10 short beds that someone else fell in love with before I could do anything with them including one that someone offered way more than I thought it was worth when it was on my buddy's trailer on the way home.

Right now I need to build a little shed around my 48 and put the wood stove in one end and get to work on it so I can have something for show and tell in the spring.

I would very much like a '63. Last year of the wraparound windshield but first year of the suspension design they ran clear into the late 80's. I'd probably swap in a 60-61 grille and hood but that would bolt on.

I really like the looks of the mid-late 50's GMC's but I don't think I'd want a straight front axle nor do I have the skills to make one into IFS. One of those that was already set up the way I'd want it is probably massively out of my price range.

I had a 57 GMC big window 3/4 ton that belonged to my mom's companion for a long time that looked great from 100 ft but was so rusted out that one would have never got done putting body panels on it. It had a cute little 283 in it with a powerglide that had a hard time getting it up to 55 mph. I looked at it long and hard wanting to figure out how to turn it into a short bed but it was too far gone and I sold it to some guy who bought it for the big window parts.

I've owned them all at one time or another.
Tough call, they're all great looking trucks.
For the purpose of this thread, I'd go with a '65 Custom Cab SWB, black with white insert, lowered with Cragars and blackwalls.

  19. ADs are cool. Got one on the back burner. Nice lines. Only draw back are size wise it’s like driving an s10
The TFs look like customs. Especially the 58/59 fleet sides. I dig the GMC noses.
The 60-66 is almost a modern truck. Super EZ to mod. They drive and ride great stock.

    No wrong answers

Well, to be honest I can't really vote...I've built one of each over thew years and have enjoyed them all...they all had their good points...but styling wise, I'd have to go with the T.F though.

I voted, and my avatar should clue you in on what I picked, but it's a trick question. All answers are correct.

The 41-46s are great too. I LOVE the looks of the 39-40s. I only have an AD because it kinda found me. I'd have taken any 37-63 Chevy truck if the timing/price/condition/location was right like it was with my '50.

I have a 66 Suburban, for the most part I'm OK with the overall look but really don't care for how the 60-66 trucks look when the hood is open.
I really like my louvered hood though!

Advanced design fer sure. had a few AD dealer items over the years, all I have left is the first poster which is 5 feet tall and the matching newspaper ad below it. I also had what I am pretty sure was a "Task Force" banner, shown at the bottom. the 54 truck banner is a pic from Ebay.
had a 1953 truck for a short time. A guy came by to purchase a 65 Sunbeam Alpine I had and made an offer I could not refuse on the truck as well. . about 1/2 of what they are worth now:(:(. It went to the UK as did the Sunbeam.

I’m a TF guy, mainly because my dad bought his ‘57 new, then he handed over to me when I was 16. I’ve had a few more that came and went.
But maybe just my memory, it seemed like the AD truck “fit “ together better, fender lines, door gaps, etc.
    they’re all fine looking trucks.

  26. For looks I it's a toss-up between the AD and the 60-63 C-10 for me.

However, to own it is the C-10. The are old enough to be cool but modern enough to be comfortable can be used as a truck!

Taking parts to swap meets towing a trailer etc...

I would love to find a 1961 Suburban to tow my race car with!

The problem is finding one that someone hasn't Tech-No rodded, or what they consider "updated" "upgraded" with a Turbo 350, disc brakes, and/or a has a modern front clip! All downgrades in my book!

  27. The c10 is the perfect “hamb era” truck

  28. A 3/4 1960 step side would be cool to find too.

My Great Grandfather (on my father's mother's side) was a Cites Service wholesaler; he had a 1960 3/4 Stepside (235 of course!) service/local delivery truck (motor oil, drums grease etc...) I would like to do one up like his company truck.

"Pop" Kellhouse was not a hot rodder or racer, but he was a diehard Chevy 6 man! The service and the fuel oil trucks had to have 6 cylinders!

He only liked V8s in his Cadillacs!

Being a Chevy 6 guy must be genetic!
