    Picked this up on Sunday. A lot of cleaning to do but I like it. IMG_0884.jpeg IMG_0882.jpeg IMG_0883.jpeg IMG_0881.jpeg IMG_0880.jpeg IMG_0879.jpeg IMG_0877.jpeg IMG_0869.jpeg

    Dig it!
    P15-D24 site for stock info.
Looks like it's a runner, just missing the battery. Service or at least check the oil bath air cleaner.

  3. It’ll buff out. Hehe.

Yea it needs gone through again. Lots of work before it sat a little and I got it.
New fuel tank and lines, master and lines, rebuilt gen and starter, carb and fuel pump…
Wiring is crumbling. Lots of bare wires so needs a whole new harness.
Should be fun for the whole family.
Need some tips from Mr. Myrick on buffing the paint. I was told its original but anybody’s guess.

Well, the paint thing is first, carefully clean all the stuff that isn't paint off.

Second, if it is original single stage or old repaint of single stage, this old article is the best I've seen.
    https://autogeekonline.net/threads/...-finish-to-antique-single-stage-paints.24532/

They stress that the paint that's on there should be dealt with carefully. No scotchpads or brillo pads if you don't want to repaint and care about what's left. It's more work but that's what it take to preserve.

Getting the whole interior out. Mouses houses and riveted patch panels but nothing surprising yet.

The seat frames and springs seem to be in good shape. Plus I found this classic bag under one of them!

She's going to have to get you a pair of cheap sunglasses.

So you can roll your eyes at the wandering who say it's a '41 or an 1865!

You’re right. I hope she corrects them when they say that!

Collected a lot of old 40 pics years ago. Not how I'd do it, but one that isn't bone stock.

EDIT: Just looked at it again full size and it's got 40 front fenders, 41 rear.

I have just tried to start it and nothing happened. I do not believe I bought a running/driving car the more I look at it but moving on…
    Is this coil missing something?
I don’t see any loose wires except one labeled horn and since I don’t see a horn I did not give it much attention.
First off, I’m out to see if I have 6v at the ignition switch.

looks like the ign source goes to the back of the coil on those. does it crank over but not have spark at the plugs? if so clean the points

There should be a few "Revive My Car" threads, I know I've written one or two replies.
First, does it have oil that smells and looks okay and is the right level?
Second, does the engine turn over by hand okay with no tight spots?
Did you pull the plugs and lube the rings and cylinders?
With plugs out, does the starter spin the engine over well?
At that point, check for compression, then spark.
Probably a good idea to also check the trans level. Don't want to spin mud or no lube at all.
Fuel holding in carb? Water in the radiator?
At this point, you can worry about getting it to start.

Here’s an idea. Positive ground. Maybe the cables are wrong.
    Can I switch the cables?

The Plymouth would have been a positive ground back then.
The ignition power to the coil attaches to the coil on the inside of the car.
Pull the plugs and put some oil down the cylinders.
With the plugs out, does the motor turn over by hand?
Does the battery have enough charge in it?
Are the battery cables good enough? 6 volt batteries need large diameter battery cables and clean connections at the battery, the starter, and the ground cable.
That rod you step on completes the circuit for the starter, it is the "starter solenoid."
Wouldn't be the first starter I've seen go bad.
