No, they sold it to the gentleman I bought it off. Pretty sure the reason he bought it was to flip it. He didn’t have it long. It was posted on here for sale when I bought it.

[Did they who ever boogered it up even have the gas turned on . Just an air filled mess. I broke the shifter off with a Similar weld, instant floor shift . 30 miles to home on a 4 speed with vice grips as a shifter.
QUOTE="Stephen Barrett, post: 15704721, member: 343772"]Got stuck in gear this morning and I broke the shift lever. It was welded but without proper penetration. I still need to get it out of gear but I that will have to wait till I get home from work. ATTACH=full]6525718 View attachment 6525719
Great car . I would look over every weld on the car well now . Probably 2 different welders , but be safe and at least look at them.

Yeah, I was under the car last night checking all the welds. Thank God they all looked good. Definitely not the same welder.

Luckily I was in front of my house. Welding it correctly today. Once I got the shifter out I was able to get it in neutral. I’m going to pull the drain plug to check the magnets for metal then put new gear oil in it.

IMG_9793.jpeg I got some gear oil today. I had some trouble finding GL-4. I found this but it’s synthetic. I’m wondering what people thought are about this before I change it.

So does that mean you wouldn’t use the Synthetic GL-4 that I got. If so then why?

The hood is maroon. I have to modify the side with the alternator. Then paint them black. I have an original grill shell too but I need the cap, trim and grill. I’d like to find someone that does louvers as well.

I did look at it but I’ve had more pressing matters to take care of. I fixed the over heating issue. I’m changing the gear oil now but it’s been raining. I’m going to finish that up today. Plenty of time to deal with the handle.

I never heard back from DDDenny about the synthetic gear oil but I still took his advice about getting the Sta-Lube GL-4 from Napa. I read a lot of mixed opinions on synthetic and my gut said “don’t do it “ So I returned it. I’m going to put it in today after work.

I would leave the handle !!
Seriously....it gives the car character.
When I first saw the picture I noticed the door handle. It reminded me of my Dads old 53 Ford pick-up.
It's a sign of......"Yeah, I'm old but still a force to reckon with !
LEAVE ME ALONE and go look at the perfect-plastic copies most other guys have !"

Thanks.”perfect plastic copies” is exactly what I didn’t want when I bought it. I’m glad it brought back some old memories for you. Don’t worry it’s not high on my priority list. My main goal right now is to drive the hell out of it.

New gear oil and all back together. Success! At least so far. We’ll see how goes tomorrow when I drive it to work.

Was a little warm today and my temperature creeped up a little higher than I’d like. Decided to get a high flow water pump and a new radiator. The radiator was still filled with gunk. While I have it out I thought I’d get a water pump too. I could have flushed it again or taken the radiator apart to clean it but I don’t want to deal with that. Both will be here next week. Here’s a shot of where I’m at now. I didn’t like the double outlet on my radiator anyway. Ordered a single one with some new hoses.

So I got a new radiator and had to return it because it was damaged. The bottom inlet was bent and the joint was cracked. I could have fixed it but I was all set with that after spending $1200+ for it. After closer inspection of my old one I decided to spend the day flushing it. I managed to get it all cleared out so I’m pretty happy about that. It wasn’t easy. It was all clogged up. Today I put in my new high volume water pump and I was putting on the bottom hose and saw a huge problem. It’s not the right one. Everything appeared to be the same but I missed one thing. You can see in the pictures what I’m talking about. I’m extremely frustrated with myself for not seeing it before I installed it. At least I didn’t try to fill it with coolant. That would have been a mess. If anyone knows why the pump isn’t right please let me know. I was under the impression that the engine is a 64 Buick wildcat. Am I wrong. Please let me know if I am. Thanks. You’ll also be able to see the damage to the radiator in the other pictures. IMG_9870.png IMG_9872.jpeg IMG_9850.jpeg IMG_9846.jpeg

Synthetic really isn't part of this old school guys' vocabulary and actually, for me lubrication theory is about as interesting as reading the phone book.

You’re right about being a 1958 water pump. So I did some research and found out that I do have a 64 425ci based on the casting numbers on the block. But, the part number on the timing cover shows I have a 59 401 cover and the water pump is a 58. (Block#1364704 with a KX code on the front, timing cover #1187774, waterpump#1180407)
