Looking to put a top on my 32 roadster.I know sid shavers stopped making there top top.. who do you guys recommend for a top .I appreciate the input..
I've done several deuce roadsters with tops. I'm the happiest with my current 32 roadster top. I had a 3 inch chopped windshield so when they were still in business I ordered a 3 inch chopped set of top irons from Superior Industries. I proceed to cut, and reshape the irons and give the wood a slight trim. Used many rolls of 2 inch masking tape to get the right look. When the upholstery shop was ready I took the car with multiple pictures of the Veda Orr and Bob McGee tops I taken from late 40's and early 50's hot rod magazines. As the job progressed I was probably at the shop at least once a weeks sometimes more. One last thing, I was able to obtain one of the last stainless 33/34 Ford phaeton mail slot rear windows from Lebaron Bonny. Makes the top. This top is not for everyone but I like it.

Got everything re-organized and started making the folding top irons and bows. I have his phone #. It's on my wife's phone menu, I'll get it later and post it. Be warned. Mike likes to talk! You WILL NOT have any 1o-20 min phone calls with him! More like 45 min to a hour or more! He has-had a table set up at the "Frog Follies" in Evansville. I got a 3" chopped polished stainless irons, and a oak bow set from him. In the process of getting the back and middle bow height adjusted.
Check with Mike Santiago on facebook or his uncle @fireballroadster on instagram. Mike makes the best looking folding top irons.
I bought a Rod Top for my '32 about 15 years ago, have been very happy with the fit, looks, operation, and highly recommend it. https://www.rodtops.com/
Driver hight n windshield hight matter, when you add a top= Even more so with any chop, then its becomes real hard to see stop lights if your first in line. Also, some tops do not hold up well at speeds over 50mph,< around town that is not a big deal, and as long as it is a top that folds down {with out tools an a lot of time to do it }then just put it down,if going to run over 50mph. I'm pointing that stuff out,as it is often over looked to start with. Snap in side windows ,are not often sold with the top> So ask,if you want them. If your handy, maybe you can make your own? I did a TECH for HAMB,about doing your own top at home, with a simple design I came up with for a folding down top. By doing it my self, the cost was my time, and about $ 75 to $100 of stuff to work with !! a Few years back. The design can be mod to work with most any year n style. My Rod is a 28A bobtailed roadster.> https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...top-a-how-too-do-it-tech.857951/#post-9479688
Check out this thread (@wstory )...having spent many miles staring at Bill's roadster from pretty much all angles including from the inside looking out...the top looks, fits and works right! https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/building-a-foldable-stowable-roadster-top.1113268/
