Saw this in my YT feed. Never heard of the guy/company. Did a search here, and some info, but old posts with broken links. Crazy to think he built this 100 hp engine in 1904.
Watched/listened to that video last night. That Buffom dude was seriously talented both in mind and hand. The mechanical innovation in that time period was unparalleled. Also is Brian Lohnes a HAMBr? His videos are amazing.
https://www.dispatch.com/story/special/2020/01/20/cars-we-remember-1904-buffum/1867725007/ Quoted below from an article on Buffum, "In a period spanning just 13 years, about 70 truly remarkable machines were built. For a man who made so few cars, Buffum achieved groundbreaking results: he produced the first American four-cylinder car, production or otherwise, the first cataloged production American race car and the world's first production V8 automobile." @Ziggster, I can see why the interest in this vintage go fast...and it looked to be a 2 seater...I recall them having two in these old racers...
Pretty amazing engineering! Too bad most of his cars were so high priced, or he might still be known today!
My younger brother has one of the 189X chassis. It was in service as a power plant for a saw mill when he bought it. I doubt it will ever get restored, but it is interesting as a bit of early automotive history.
