After a couple of hours of sleep MrsRoyboy and myself headed out from Wichita to Bartlesville for this year’s GATR. Here is what we saw on Friday I’ll have another video tomorrow of what we see today.
Just got back to a hotel from the show today, just about ready to go out to dinner with our club and then when I get back to the room, I’ll work on today’s video
The event was great as usual, a brief rain storm on Friday late in the day but otherwise the weather was perfect. The cars were top shelf, all the big guns were there. Woolrrock is a fantastic venue for the Saturday show, lots of trees, a first class western museum, also plenty of food choices and modern rest rooms. The event and museum are located on 3,700 acre preserve, the road leading into the event have Buffalo roaming free but they did not seem to have any interest in the hot rods passing by. The Thursday and Friday night “show” at the host hotel was as large as some rod runs, cars parked everywhere, the city closed the street adjacent to the hotel so the band could set up, then the cars filled the balance of the area. Add this event to your bucket list.
You guys that take the time to photograph, video, and post here, for us that unfortunately can’t be there, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! What a treat for all of us. I didn’t know there were that many tail dragger 36’s around, and I especially enjoyed seeing the Prufer coupe. Just about MY all time favorite car. It just marks all the boxes, rings all the bells, and pushes every button on my dial. Thanks again for all the photos and videos.
There was a spot today that had 7-10 36 Roadsters and 3W, plus a sweeeeet 35. I thought I’d stumbled into heaven for a bit.
And here is my video from Saturday! thanks to everyone who pulled us aside to say that they watch the videos, it really made us feel good to know so many folks dig what we do.
Jean and I watched both the Friday reliability cruise video and the show video from today and I'll tell you Bud the best frigging thing about both videos is no added on crappy 4 cord hillbilly guitar music. The Reliabilty run video was fun and just getting to see the cars go by was a blast. The Saturday (It's still Saturday here) was great because we both felt like we were walking around the grounds with you and looking at the cars. The only sounds were the sounds of the event and that made it 100% better than those videos with canned music. Loved it, keep on keeping on. Did you catch the current milage on the Purple T from Idaho? Last time I saw the car it had around 3600 on it and even though it was a serious AMBR contender and built to be a show car they drive it and rack up miles on it. Maybe not as much as the Tub but it isn't a real rod run in the PNW if that green tub doesn't show up.
God Bless America and thank you Travis for giving folks a chance that could not attend to witness one of the greatest gatherings on this beautiful Earth.
Great video coverage and tons of killer rides, thanks for the video. Couple of questions for those in the know: Seems like a few years ago I saw on social media where you needed to apply to get your car in, is that correct? Who decides where you park? Is there a cost to get in with or without a car? Thanks in advance.
Registration opens Dec1, you will have to send in pics of your car. They handpick the cars out of that group, and some other hand picked favorites. There is an entry fee for the car show. They direct you in a general area to park but this year Stray Kat Mick gathered a bunch of the custom cars up in one area. We missed a couple but it was cool. There is a spectator cost to get in to Woolaroc but o don’t remember how much it is.
It was 18 dollars per person to enter the venue. Excellent coverage Travis. It was a pleasure to meet you and Mrs. Royboy. Snowman ⛄️
Good seeing you as always Travis! Great coverage as well since I didn’t get to make the reliability run or actual show…
