Hello, There was a time when we came out of the ocean after an early morning surf session. Our hair was plastered back with the last head dip to get the hair out of our eyes and dripping water. As we took a shower and cleaned off for the hang out on the beach until the next session or after lunch, our hair was plastered back until the wind/sun/movement began to get it back to normal. Some of us with longer hair looked like the guy in the photo abover. Others, looked like the scraggly guys we saw that were in the downtown area alleys. The hair flying all over, pointing ever which way… But, for us, the water made our hair slick back. It was not until the wind/sun/movement allowed our plastered hair to rise gently as it dried. Yes, the clean fresh water shower actually plastered our hair down, but the wind, sun and what ever allowed the hair to slowly rise. If we actually combed our hair while wet, it did rise somewhat like the “styled” hair of the cruiser guy. There was a time in So Cal that guys went to hair salons, not barber shops. The after result was the hair dryer blown look after a fine hair spray. This style of hair could withstand the open convertible cruising and definitely the open windows of hardtop sedan. Ha! We just allowed the sun and slight build up of wind to take over, naturally… The start... Jnaki The whole outfit: White Penney’s T-shirt, suede shoes/boots, button down shirt and khaki/Levi pants. Variations always was the cruiser’s choice. YRMV Then the buzz cut era arrived and our look took on a new attitude.
Appears to be a 48?-54 pickup transmission. They had the wide front pattern but a closed driveline. The four 5-16” fine thread u-joint capscrews were their weakness.
