I finally got my heap up and running after about 2 1/2 years, really got serious this past month figuring out why it wouldn't turn over. Looks like I'll need a bigger battery to turn over this high torque starter though, even though it's fully charged it still needed the charger to spin it completely over.
Now here we have a merger of 2 cultures once vehemently opposed as could be. At one time those who embraced the golf scene (Doctors, rich f**ks, old farts), were ridiculed and the subject of derision by the Harley crowd. Those who rode Harleys were viewed as criminal, rapist, thugs etc. by the duffers. That Freedom has always been jealously hated by those not in possession of it. The local H-D dealer now hosts a charity (Huzzah) golf tournament that sells out due to the large number of spawned by television "Bikers" ...truly sad.
Not to say anything bad , but those HD12 batteries are strange birds . Have you but a volt meter across the battery while it’s trying to crank ? Starter relay that looks like a Ford unit needs clean good ground also . I normally run a piece of # 10 from battery - side to starter relay also . 1 st ride on the last Shovel (84) I have , brand new fresh AGM battery , dead on the darkest stretch of road home for me . Not a fun day to push the SOB to the nearest street light . Good luck my friend , I wish I lived near . I’d be hangin with you
