Just spotted the water bag on the front of the Chevy. That water would get COLD hanging out in the breeze like that. Probably the inspiration for the evaporative cooler hanging on the side of cars of that period.

When we traveled in our mid 50’s Fords, dad had a “sweat” bag on each side of the grille and drove with the air vents open to the inside of the car in hot weather thru the southwest. My brother and I each cracked the rear side windows about 1/2” and it was way cooler in the car..Dad called “poor man’s AC”…I still have one of the bags…

At the risk of getting flamed, I did not know that Kristi Noem was from Ohio. If that's her, she's got good taste in cars.

Gee, this might be a real race car at the Stateline, rather than a street rod with a number on it.

    Hello,

The 1934 Altered Coupe of the Burkholder Brothers was built in Sacramento in 59-60. It started the long standing involvement in drag racing throughout the years. Here is one of the earliest photos of their Coupe. Note the rear tire differences and position.

The car primarily raced in that Northern California area and met its unfortunate crash at Vacaville in 1960.

A drawing from an old art file: A tribute to the outstanding start and continued involvement, including today's rumblings during those Cackle shows.

The Burkholder Brothers are still in “The Show.” They are active participants in the annual locations of the cackle shows with their latest Fiat Altered coupe. YRMV
