    Hello,

The****le works for most of our hot rod history. At first, the 32 Ford anything, was a goal for most folks we knew. Somehow the large grill looked like a wall coming at you and in no way was that streamlined as it should. But, the early Detroit designers had their way. They started with a small radiator/grill years earlier in the Model T, then made a good one in the Model A, but when it came time to move to the next design, they increased the size and look of the coupes and sedans.

Yes, we liked the comparison of the Model A versus the 32 Ford models from coupe to wagons. But, they were out of reach for us as young teens. When we were old enough to move on in our lives and were ready to venture into building our own hot rod, my wife and I thoroughly looked at the alternatives at car shows and hot rod picnics in So Cal.

We liked a chopped Model A Sedan Delivery, but after sitting in one, felt cramped for long distance cruising, despite being young and flexible. So, we moved to coupes, but again, lack of room for the necessities, luggage, little dog and “stuff.” Mainly, an 8 foot new design surfboard, leaving the 10 foot longboards up in the rafters. No way an 8 foot design was going to fit inside of any of the Model A or 32 Ford models of cars. We did not like the larger panel delivery vans as they looked too large and bulky, at the time.

So, we like a 46 Ford Woody, but lost the woody to a ratty guy who would not take our money via check or money order. Now, the search widened to look at all models that would fit our needs. So, our history took us to a 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery. I just could not get away from all of the fun I had in high school with the flathead powered sedan delivery. So, as the newer build that someone else wanted to sell as a project popped up, we jumped at the chance to make it work for us. As twenty somethings, we were game for just about anything.

So, our hot rod adventures together began and various other ideas popped up for our next level hot rod. Perhaps, this modified 32 RPU had all of the things we would like on our last hot rod. Open air cruising is a standard thing all along the coastal road trips and vacations. So, would this RPU be the next in line for a couple of old folks to enjoy the scenery we have been living in, for over 80 years? YRMV

Saw this coupe at Car Show in Brookpark, looks great, didn't sit in it.

I'd put tunnel ram or tri power and cruise it.

Do you know someone who has one of them? Try it out for fit and think about how it would be for a long tour. I really like my A, see aviator, but I couldn’t ride in it for a long cruise. I am almost 74 and these old bones don’t like being cramped in it. It’s fun when we run around town for a little while but thinking about a long cruise with arthritis in my hip just hurts. If you build one or purchase someone’s project, keep us posted with plenty of pictures. Of course, I know you will.

Yikes, I hope we can still be friends,...lol.

Does it help that this one is chopped 2 inches, only has a 2 or 3 inch channel job, a nasty rake to it,...and it's a 33, not a 32? Also it's got a nice flame job to offset your dislike of yellow,.....oh and,....I went right out of the box with the fact it's a Chevy, not a Ford. ;)

Here's my old coupe I built in the late 60's. I sold it to a friend who had it painted yellow. I never liked it yellow. This was way before A/G. The car is still on the road today and owned by my old friends son. I always thought it would have looked black. IMG_7797.jpeg IMG_7796.jpeg IMG_4636.jpeg

My vehicles sure got some negative vibes from some of the posts on this thread, even though not directed at my cars in particular.

Early 30s cars shouldn't be channeled......my 33 coupe is 3 inches, my 34 PU was channeled 10 inches.
    3 window cars shouldn't be channeled.......my 33 is.
Cheater slicks "are" safe in the rain.......spun out and crashed my 34 Ford PU at only 30mph due to unexpected rain and pie crust, two grove, cheater slicks.

West coast, where hot rodding was born. Big on high boys sitting on top of the frames and chopped roofs.
East coast, in their own style, often went with channeled cars, sectioned bodies, and no chop what so ever.

It's whatever turns you on, west, east, or combos of both.

    Color is obviously subjective.

They look cool but********* in the rain. Actually, they don't********* they just slide about on it. I was at the beach recently with my roadster and it dumped on us. Every corner had my sphincter tight as a drum. A bit of fish tailing but no serious incidents or soiled britches.

I went to the Hot Rod Fall Out in CT one Fall with my 34 Ford PU hot rod with 2 line, pie crust, cheater slicks on it, ..perfect weather that day, until it wasn't. Left in the after noon when the clouds rolled in and it began to sprinkle. About 30 minutes into an hour and a half drive, and in light rain, going about 30 mph on a 60 mph road, all of a sudden the back end, without any provocation or warning, came around to my left and I was facing the wrong way, smashing into the wire guard rail and posts that were originally on my right, with my drivers side of the truck. Not good, but could have been a lot worse. The wire guard rail kept be from smashing into a highway Route number sign beam and tumbling down a ravine.
