No ball joints on a '40 Ford if it has its original front axle.

...He says stock front suspension but, it does appear that he is a bit confused.

Here's a few more 40 photos. No ball joint (as has already been mentioned.)

  8. Well, in the guy's defense, a tie rod end is a sort of mini ball-joint...

ES416 R/L are the numbers for the tie rod ends. They are available from any parts store and Rock Auto. If you have the stock 40 Ford drag link, that should be available from most early Ford suppliers such as Joe's Antique Auto.

I believe you can find the parts you need at Speedway, CCP, or Bob Drake.

Don’t cheap out on tie rod ends. Get good Moog ones.

  16. Double check with new Moog ones as some are not made in the USA.

That's great. So now you are in a "good Moog?.
Question: Your louvres look really good. How do you prevent water from
dripping down onto the engine. Just curious.

As others said the tie rod ends are Moog ES416L and ES 416R that you can order locally and save waiting and shipping. Or you can order them on Amazon too.
They are readily availble common parts that fit Fords and others up into the 60's and not "rare parts" so don't pay a rare parts price.
You can buy one end for the drag link but have to go to a Vintage Ford parts house for the complete drag link. The short Screenshot (1407).png Screenshot (1412).png rod end that screws into the sleeve is another ES416L if the other end isn't worn out.

Isn't there a ball joint at the rear end of the wishbone [radius rod]?
