rebuilding after the crash

  1. The axle slid right in. It's not bent. I checked the run out.To bend the tube with a 40 spline axle would take a lot of force.

  5. Probably why the views are so high, we can only handle so many overheating SBC and my brakes don't work threads.

Chris & Teri Graves have released the 2026 Nitro Chaos championship schedule. Which tracks are you fans coming to next year to cheer Brian on to a race win and championship victory?

  7. I plan on going to all of them. The only track on the schedule I have not been to is 131. That track would make the 73rd different track I have raced on. Make plans to come out for some wild nitro fun.

Its averages around $60 per gallon
So 55 gallon drum with 50 gallons
    About $2,800- 3K
    5 gallons drum around $300-350
Nitro not cheap even in 50's was around
    $4.00 a gallon .
Gas around 0.30 per gallon ?

  12. I'm getting it for 1325.00 I'm also picking it up. Last year it was 1250.00. shipping if you have to do it is a killer. I know enough people to get it to a race I'm going to or meeting somewhere to make it happen. It should be mentioned this is for a big drum that has 53 gallons. They made for a long time a 35 gallon drum. Do to homeland security the 35 gallon drum was eliminated. Homeland security comes into play at 500 lbs of fuel. Guess how much a big drum weighs? That's right 500 lbs.

Im sure you are not using 50/50
Because the rules you run under I think says 80% plus ?
What brand ? average $25 gal is cheep ,
Is this a special deal you're getting ,
Like connections with Racing team that is buying in very very large quantities ?
Not for sure Pro Teams , I thought @ least one time had to buy use Fuel
From the Official supplier at the track.
Have the rules change NHRA & now
IHRA bring back Fuel classes .

The ones that are Interested in the history of nitro methane &
"" Why 55 gal drum"" around
Off top my head mid 50's early 60s
Nitro Methane was shipped by rail cars tanker enlarged quantities there was two explosions about a year apart the government investigators never Did figure out what caused the explosion, after that nitromethane was shipped in 55 gallon drums or less , since then to my knowledge no explosion happen in transport since, but roughly 15 years ago or so give or take one of the refineries here in USA burnt to the ground then we was getting China junk

The Iowa Racing Hall Of Fame ceremony last night was awesome. It's always great to get our "group" together for bench racing when everyone isn't so busy at a racing event. We had a lot of crew members from the Orange Crate dragster and Nitro Madness altered that showed up. Brian traveled from Wisconsin, and Forrest traveled from Tennessee, to show their appreciation to an awesome mentor, colleague, and friend. Radar gave a heartfelt and lengthy speech, something that isn't normal for racers or someone as reserved as Radar.

  18. Both crews showed up. Such a great evening. I serviced the heads. They are ready to race. All of the exhaust guides were changed. Their short length and bad angle makes them wear out more often. The springs were set at 1.95 inches at 450 lbs on the seat. A drum of nitro was picked up at the ceremony saving me a lot of travel time.

Thanks a bunch for the neat pics and the recap. Looks like it was a great time.
Of course, it usually is when a bunch of racers get together! ;)

    Hey, work before pleasure!! LOL
Yeah I know, never enough time it seems. You gotta make the most of it. Great that you made it to the ceremony though, had to be a pretty special evening for all involved.

  24. Some might wonder why I tore the engine down so fast after the season ended. Things don't always work out. Last year it was the rods. They took three months to make. The year before the crank took three months to get back. One year the converter was lost in the mail. It was found several months later at a USPS station in Indy. This years fun is trying to source a milodon crank gear. No one has it. Milodon says my maybe a month or two they will make some. Glad I got on this right away.

I feel your pain. Within one month of Bonneville everything is apart. Parts orders and some sent out. I consider myself behind with our next meet is the end of September. Suppliers don’t stock like they once did and one off parts are not someone’s priority.

I have not touched the 421. No time. No money.
