I was going to stick it on the main board but it is probably more appropriate here.
If you are a car guy at all you have run into one of these guys at and event.
If you have ever gone to a Mustang only show you for sure have seen them.. Screenshot (1505).png

Only accessory missing is the '91 Corolla beater he shows up in...
Definitely not exclusive to Mustang Only shows!

Many are not car guys at all, who are anxious to show off their lack of knowledge .

Try selling stuff at the swap meet and listening to all the cars that your part fits and how they had one just like it, then walking away without buying anything.

And they also will usually have a girlfriend or wife with them to show off their wealth of automotive knowledge..

Of course, after they finally figure out the reproduction thing, they bring the kids along to mis-educate them.

You must be referring to the perfectionist mindset people walking amongst us. They are everywhere, no car show can escape their righteous opinion. They all feel their job is to keep everything absolutely correct and in accordance with their opinion.

I like to mess with them after they point out everything wrong with my ride. I often ask them one very friendly question. "DANG! Is that ALL you have found??? You need to look at it bit harder, you missed nearly 1/2 of the things wrong! I build defects into everything I build, just so****holes like you have something to look for."
After that, most shut up and walk away.

“Looks like you got a little rust poking through on that fender”

“1958 Huh?, never cared for them, liked the 57’s better.”

    “Why is it so low?”

    “That’s not a 58”

It is all good tho, 99% of people either say something nice, or don’t say anything.

1980, our new car club experimented with a Saturday car show in a local parking lot. Some of the members dropped their cars off and had other things to do. I hung out to watch their cars.

A couple of seedy locking characters (Late 20's) were walking around loudly criticizing the cars. From a distance, I kept an eye on them. They departed in a sun-faded Mercury Comet, with a puff of blue exhaust - and the ripped headliner blocking the view out the rear mirror.

Corvette crew...a cruel irony of the car world, you have a team of brilliant engineers that build a fantastic automobile that can leap tall buildings in a single bound, and because of co$t, the cars all wind up in these guys hands, too old or too concerned about pedigree to appreciate that performance envelope. Meanwhile, a 20 something dude that would kill for a ride like that drives a $1,200 Civic.

They are everywhere. My avatar is a homemade, blacksmith built little tractor. I put my great grandpas Cushman engine on . I built the cooling tank , fuel tank and a few other parts. I was at a local tractor show when a guy stopped by and nitpicked it . He was very entertaining.

I tend to walk away from my car quickly to avoid the amateur show car judges since I am there to look at the other cars. Don’t need to hang around my car, I can walk out into the garage any time to see it.
