This was my cool old 47 Dodge, D-24, 3 window business coupe I used to own, our friend Lindsey dressed up as a cool, beautiful redheaded witch, in the little black dress posed next to the Dodge!

Hello,

When we were teenagers, making fun of the other teenagers was an art. Great quotes had been used, but the breaking point had to be used at all times. If the “point” was beyond the acceptable mark, then a black eye, puffed up cheek bone, or cut lip was the result. No one was out of range for those classic remarks to make one feel a little less cool. But the sign of a solid teenager was one who could take it AND give it back with strength.

A friend with a 1946 Ford Coupe was a tough fighter and everyone knew it. But, he always had a nice smile, the girls thought the world of him as a friend. His hot rod was a cool custom with a bright purple paint and white tuck/roll from south of the border. No one made any comments about his custom purple 46 Ford Coupe. On the whole, our group of teenagers despite living in different areas of Long Beach and liking different things, we all somehow got together and had a great three years of cruising, building and racing for fun.

But, when something like a holiday festivities came up, black cars, like my 58 Impala and a black 55 Chevy were the two cars that took the brunt of Halloween jokes like, “ black as night,” “ don’t go cruising on Halloween since your car might scare folks and get the “raw egg” toss” for justification. Ha!

So no one in our group painted their hot rods bright orange, black or dark blue. No one wanted to be the recipient of neighborhood egg toss revenge against cruising teenagers. Ha!

We saw an orange 1946 Ford Sedan one night and we could imagine it being bright orange for Halloween. It was a combination of red, with a hint of orange as the sun and street lights seemed to change the color. Spooky could be implied for Halloween festivities.

If the orange 46 sedan were painted a bright orange, it could be the official Halloween fun car, towing a trailer with it full of candy for party rentals and street festivities. But, if it had a black painted front end with ghost flames, it could disappear into the night…YRMV
