Going to be paint my 32 black scallops on the nose with a black frame .im looking for a white or cream color that has a good look and would like your opinions on a white our cream color you like. My roadster is running a hood with sides..Here is a picture of a plane I liked the color combo any suggestions is appreciated.
Cool....that shade of white resembles the '30 Wade Coupe - which used a shade of white paint inspired by a Porsche 356. Kind of an ivory.
Unanimous, like it also! I would go with the cream or an off white, bright white might be too bright.
60-70’s Ford Wimbledon white… is a little creamy and a lot of midgets wer painted that color with red scallops gold pinstripe or black scallops with red pinstripes…dynamite!
I like the red idea .I just happened to see this plane at a local air show .the plane just caught my attention..Red pinstripe might be cool
I really like Ford Wimbledom White. A nice creamy white that gives cars a warm look. Used it on my '39 Chev coupe in my avatar.
Here's a color chart for white showing what the shade originated on. White Automotive Paint - Shop By Color | TheCoatingStore.com Thisi is a bit of it. t
I was going to say 60s Wimbledon White too. A slightly more ivory white is MGB Old English White. With your scallop plan I don’t think I’d want to go anymore ivory than that though.
I don't think pure white would look good on a traditional 32 but the scallops like on the plane would make a world of difference!
Here's Art Jenning's Bill Kenz tribute roadster at the Dirt Drags. Not verified....but looks a lot like my firewall, which is Wimbledon White. "Click on the pic".
Hello, A neighbor down the street has a color on his car that is like a Pearlescent Paint we used to see back when we were teenagers of the early 60s. Back then it was called White Pearlescent. It looked like our parent’s pearl necklaces as popular as they were. The pearl paint stood out as if the cars were dipped in pearl. One of the famous custom trucks was the Ala Kart that had a Pearl paint along with scallops. But, my neighbor had the similar Pearl paint on his 12 year old sporty car. I have seen it on rainy days, overcast days and of course plenty of sunshine days. From steps away, it looks just plain white. But coming close, one notices the sun shining on various aspects of the pearl. So, it shines at different angles as one approaches the car’s paint. White paint is rather bland, But it is one of the standard colors that we all see on the road, parking lots and coastal highways. Since it is part of most vehicle’s standard color paints, there is no charge, or there is a charge if the paint is a different white… like these of my neighbor’s car. Online, there are three different named Pearl Paint colors that were on my neighbor’s car. They all say metallic or mineral white or a combination of such. Jnaki You have not shown your 32 roadster in photos, but the large scallop you are thinking of may override the nice Pearl Metallic Paint. Less is more in all circles and less dark scallops may look better. Not the whole nose covering scallop we have seen on old hot rods. YRMV
