The Brough Superior Golden Dream prototype has probably the most interesting layout of any motorcycle I've seen, with its double-decker horizontally-opposed four:

German built Imme motorcycles were pretty strange creatures.
Single sided fork and swing arm and the swing arm also doubled as the exhaust. What could go wrong...?
