I received an overdrive in a trade.
It was removed from a 1931 Ford Model A that was restored/modified in the late 80s.
I would appreciate help identifying the make and model so that I can dig up a manual.
The only markings I have found are "DTS 115314 2L".
    Thanks... Chris

looks like it. They were used in some European cars in the 60s-80s, before Gear Vendors bought them.

might need better pictures of it sitting right side up, showing the whole thing. With the camera in "landscape" mode instead of "portrait"

Yes. I knew someone who had a Pacer with a three speed with this style overdrive.

The Pacer version was behind a Ford 3 speed top loader transmission, and had a normal open driveline at the back end.

This mystery OD appears to be adapted to a closed driveline, it would help to see what's at the other end of it.

Also, turn off the "camoflage mode" when taking the next pictures.

As stated above, looks like a Lay**** type J, I have one in my Model A and am very happy with it. My installation look like the first photo, in the 3 above.

I’m thinking Triumph. This plate here held on by two rivets will have the actual part number stamped on it. IMG_0131.jpeg

Yep. They did from 75-77, they used a Lay**** overdrive mounted on the rear of a Ford 3.03 full syncro 3 speed. I have one in my avatar roadster. I put a Jeep T150 top cover on it to get the old time appearance. It's behind a 354 Chrysler hemi and has performed flawlessly since installed in 2009! I mounted a lighted rocker switch under the left side of my dash. I have driven it all over the southwest without any problems. They were originally in AMC Pacers, Gremlins, and Hornets. They are pretty rare to find nowadays. Larry Ready from the LA Roadsters and did a trip around the perimeter of the USA without any problems. Great trans/overdrive combo. People will look at my car and ask about the transmission. The bewildered look on their face when I tell them that the transmission is out of a 76 AMC Pacer is priceless! It did take some time to find because they weren't widely ordered. BUT, if you can get your hands on one they are worth every penny spent. The Jeep top cover puts the shift lever within 1 inch of where original Ford shift lever came through! You should see the look on people's faces as I go 6 speeds forward for fun. After shift number 4, I get some weird looks!
