I picked up a set of wind wings that I believe are styled like a model T, I would like to add them to the windshield posts of my roadster but they are missing the brackets that fit to the car. Im looking for ideas for figment or a source to find hardware that will make it fit. here is a picture of a model T wind wing they are rather large but should be very effective.
I found these clamps online, they are two piece and made of aluminum, not sure they are robust enough. I would install rivnuts into the windshield stantions. What do yinz think?
I think that the T round cross section frame compared to your A rectangular section is the issue. The A stuff requires holes https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/product.htm?pid=977266&cat=0 Since you show just 2 holes high up, that isn't going to work for you. Is this something you could profile with bondo, clay or 3D scan and make some metal parts to fit your posts on one end and the window frames on the other?
I could perhaps find a bracket the would attach to the 3/8 round frame and tack studs to them that would mount to the windshield stantions, I would have to drill new holes
Here's a universal one. I didn't find much more for early roadsters, but you might try boat applications where it attaches the the windshield and hold the gl***. There has gotta be something. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Universal-Wind-Wing-Kit-with-Brackets,3425.html
Those are very light weight, made for plexigl*** or lexan The gl*** is pretty heavy I need to find some pieces from the model T era, may cost me but if it works it’s a good investment
I had wings on my 31 roadster when I bought it, I took em off. They stuck out so far it was hard to get in the car. I get it, I kinda like the look, but they can be a problem too.
since this is the HAMB, we expect you to make your own mounting brackets. and we want you to make them out of stainless .
