Modern elements aside, Cole Fosters rendition for Kirk Hammit (sp?) holds a face card at a minimum. The ONE for me was one me and dear ol Dad flipped way back in the 70s. 3W (of course). Black (of course). It was the kind of rod that merits a HAMB version of an academy award. Snotty rake, interior was copper and white pleats, white headliner, had a trunk solenoid, early SW gauges, a 327 4bbl hooked to a 39 trans, juice brakes, a copper 59 Impala wheel. We got it from a guy who had gambling debts, rt front fender was off, in a local body shop not paid for yet. We gave $1,500 and paid the 200 for the fender at the shop. ***embled, cut and buffed, we had just flipped a 33 tudor so no hurry to sell. I...****IN...LOVED IT! Mom loved it too. The urge for profit was too much and we made $2200 over cost. "We'll get another one..." was always the battle cry. The rest of the car? Absolutely PERFECT sheetmetal. Everywhere including the floors and trunk. It still had the drum strips under the floor! Saw it for a couple years at shows and swaps (not for sale) and it had been fitted with Tru-Spoke wires (remember that fad?) pinstriped in bright red (not copper?!?), and they'd fitted an air cleaner that mimicked the Greer-Black-Prudhomme fueler scoop (I think they were a fad too). Lost track of it, no clue where it went, was in the Metro Detroit area, haven't seen it since probably 78-9. Was it really that nice? All day. In it's condition we had it in without the spokes and stripes I'd guess $75K today and it wouldn't last a week. For me a total heartbreaker, and I couldn't afford it if it showed up tomorrow...:(

This one that I saw when we were leaving the salt at Bonneville in 1988 has alway been my idea of the Perfect 36 ford. No idea of who owned it or where it came from. It was sitting out on the salt saying " I dare you to stop and take my photo. Screenshot (2106).png

Bill Burke, probably before his groundbreaking belly tank.
