Technical Advice on deck lid hinges for 1926 roadster

Looking for advice on some exposed deck lid hinges. When I bought this car the deck lid and body were drilled for hinges mounted at the bottom so the decklid would open rumble seat style. I cannot find what hinges they planned on using. 1936 Plymouth are close. The bolt hole spacing is correct but they're not long enough or flat enough. Instead of trying to figure out what they had used, I'll probably abandon that idea and mount them up top. I have seen people use 49 ford hinges on hot rods and was just looking for ideas on what works in this situation. Thanks for your time!

If this was my roadster I would forget about mounting the hinges on the bottom of the deck lid and mount them on top of the deck lid where they were originally mounted. There is very limited room in a 1926 roadster and quite often the gas tank and battery are mounted in the trunk area. Mounting the hinges on the bottom makes access to the trunk area just an absolute pain and the deck lid would always be in the way. Even trying to get a cooler or a lawn chair in and out of the trunk area wouldn't be all that easy either.

My buddy used the humpback hinges on his Model A coupe and they looked great! The only issue is they're designed for a very curvy decklid, so he spent time on a belt sander grinding wedges to make up the space between the hinge & lid, but it looked they belonged there. I vote on those hinges... (but those Austin Healey's look pretty slick too!)

I just went though this same thing on my T coupe trunk lid that I made. I tried to use Model A roadster hinges. I modified the **** out of them but couldn't get them work, so I started looking at external hinges . I ended up using aluminum hinges for a Mini Cooper Cl***ic. But they spent a lot of time on the belt sander to get them to articulate right. I like them because they're smaller than most that I could find . They are 3 1/2" long. I bought this set used from Eway out of Canada IMG_1470.JPG IMG_1488.JPG

AH hinges look good. The 36 hinges were used on the heavy Mullins trailer lids and seem to hold up. My vote goes to the 36 hinges.
