Darn job and family sure get in the way of car life. Well, hoping to get some contacts, help, guidance ect for older Lincolns.

This all stared when my 23 year old daughter decided she wanted an old car of her own (she often comes and "borrows" my '54 Skyliner) So this past weekend she drug me out in single digit temperatures and a snow weather warning to see a car she was interested in. We had to go before someone else could possibly get to it she claimed. She ended up buying this car that came from an elderly woman who's husband had p***ed. She needs a bit of freshening to get on the road from being parked for several years. As Lincoln owners know, they were different than Fords and Mercurys and I have ZERO experience with the old Lincolns. Number one is to get a manual for it.... I have not needed a manual since I was 16!!! Number two is spend time here and get my daughter involved on this forum.

Enough babbling, here are 2 pics of my daughter with her 1955 Lincoln Capri. All original and she only plans some minor changes to it. Note the grin she has!

Its more than obvious that the previous owner really loved this car and it was taken good care of.
Your daughter got lucky with the purchase of this amazing beautiful automobile.

Couldn't help but notice its missing its cool hood ornament, so now she will have to either step up and get one from eBay or go to different swap meets to find one.

Here is a link that may be helpful to her.
    Enjoy from Dennis.

Cool car. Makes me think of the '53 Mercury that was our family car when I was a kid. I'm waiting for the inevitable Hot Rod Lincoln references...:)

Thanks for the link. Hood ornament is in the trunk, along with some other NOS pieces. The owner would remove it when the car was stored because the ripped a few covers on it.

Maybe somebody already mentioned this. I have a tendency to skim over things. The Lincoln/Mercury Old Parts Store (out of Florida) is my go to source for anything Lincoln; very helpful folks.

Congrats! Sharp looking car! While the members here are top notch, I'd also look into any vintage Lincoln forums to find common issues, fixes and suppliers. Check date codes on the tires, do a full service and lube to set a baseline and get a basic tool kit for the trunk.

I also like to do a full hand detail of the inside and outside to 'get to know' a new purchase.

That is too cool! Glad your daughter has interest in this stuff. Looks like she found a great start!

Also, appears you are just down the road from @Bill's Auto Works maybe?

Great car, Dad had a 54, 2 door, same color combination. First car I really remember. Great project for a great father daughter team.

There’s a couple other guys working on the same or similar Lincoln’s here, a 55 in NJ, and a 54 (I think) in AZ. A little search might turn up some useful info.

Nothing better than cruising a post war Luxury Car. I hope she has fun with it, that looks like a great buy.

From what I see, Bill's is about an hour or so west of me
She has 2 other 40+ year old OT cars and this is her 5th vehicle (current that is) She does take her really nice 84 Crown Vic with us but also wanted an older car to cruise with my wife and I to shows and meets.
My 54 Skyliner and my wifes 59 Monterey an a veterans benefit show pictured here. As normal, some guy talking to the wife about her car.... IMG_20250510_120522336.jpg

Looks like your daughter comes by it honestly. :) On a related note to you being not far from Bill, I always stay in Medina when I travel for work to American Augers in West Salem. So, I am somewhat familiar with that area of the world.

LCOC (Lincoln & Continental Owners Club) is a good source of info & social. Road Race Lincoln Register is another one that specializes in '52-'57 Lincolns. There is also a kind of "Lincoln Underground" of those of us sort of "unaffiliated" owners that seem to pop-up on here, especially when there are pertinent questions to address... IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS PLEASE POST THEM!!!
