Found this rare cowl steering box at Hershey this year. Going to use it in my speedster build.

Didn't get any new stuff, but all the old junk is still stockpiled from the crusher! :D

This car will be around another 70 years thanks to me. Did floors, inner and outer rockers.

Just barely, but I might say I saved this 40 Merc coupe from more of the tree falling on it and it likely becoming part of the earth where it had been sitting for a lot of years. Or, you could say I might have saved it from its planned fate as a mud bogger as had been the plan even though it would have likely never happened... o_O

Did you hear banjoes in the background when you were pulling that Merc out?

No, but I did find two huge copperhead snakes under the igloo doghouse that is the white spot in the weeds. Those kept me on my toes the rest of the time there since I didn’t see where they went. Oh, and the money paid for the car went toward bail money to get the owner out of jail. So…even though there were no banjos playing, might as well have been.

I saved a 50 Chevy 5w PU, a 63 Chevy wagon, and a 63 Impala SS from being crushed. They were literally 1 day from being smooched when my son, one of his buddies and I each hooked up a trailer and went to rescue them. The s**** dude had about a dozen other 50's-60's cars that I just didn't have the space, time, or energy to get. I did manage to talk him into cutting the rear axle out of a 61 Olds before crushing it though.
I resold all 3 within a month for a reasonable profit so besides the moral victory it was probably worth it.

    Mmmmmmmnnn.

I’m thinking Biff’s ‘46 Ford in BTTF. That was a Coupe made into a convertible.

IMG_2875.jpeg IMG_2876.jpeg I saved this sectioned 1950 Ford Coupe, and also a chopped 1950 Ford Sedan that’s chopped in the style of a Coupe.
I would love to build both of these, but I’m really only set up to do running projects little bits at a time. Make me an offer. I need to get them out of the yard. It’s your turn to save them from the crusher.

To truly "save" something, you have to eventually DO something with it or p*** it on to someone who will. Otherwise it's just hoarding. JMO. Yep, I admit it, I'm a hoarder.........

    it’s all headed there.

Just came back to the shop with this load today, from a local guy's estate auction. Some of it I bought at the auction, but I did make a deal with a s**** buyer for a bunch of it that otherwise would have gotten s****ped, so I'll consider that "saved".

I brought extra cash in the hopes I'd get to meet whoever bought the "s****" piles and be able to cherry pick the good car parts out and buy those separately, and that worked out, that made my day.

A lot of estates like this go right from barn to dumpster without even an auction or a sale, really glad to be able to get what I got here.

I think I may have inverted the leaf springs on my van getting it all in one trip, but it was worth it.

One owner 56 chieftain, it would be rust free if it weren’t for the door seals drying and letting the floors get a little damp for the last few decades.

    Supercharged Hemi-Powered ’32 Ford Roadster AA/SR Drag CarSold for $30,013 on 8/17/25

    Hello,

My wife heard a loud, powerful high performance engine winding out through the gears late at night. She then asked what that was in the distance. There is a lonely stretch of road bordered on one side with a golf course and an industrial building arrangement that is empty at 5 p.m. daily. So, it is ripe for high performance acceleration with no one around, especially in the late evening hours.

I had said if we did not find a open roadster or 40 ford sedan for our hot rod choice, then there was one online bidding. She was good to see that one, since she used to drive the daylights off of our 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery back when we were 20 somethings. So, this late in the game, she knew what made power and go fast late at night.

Well, one side of the small two car garage would have had a nice partner sitting in the space. Even with the front tall cabinet doors on the wall cabinets taking up some garage space, this roadster would have fit easily.

We needed some other things to keep us busy and another way to cruise down to the shoreline weekly to see the waves rolling into the surf spots. It never gets old. The blue skies, the blue water and wave peaks that allow the surfers to do their own thing on each wave is fun to watch.

To cope with the modern traffic, shoulder harnesses, roll bars and a stance high enough to be seen in any lane heading to the beach. And even to make our insurance carrier happy, if there was a need, protection for the fake Moon Tank in front. Ha!

    Jnaki

The price was good as several old folks investments, from years ago, began to pop up. So, there was a moment that we looked at a fun purchase for our daily or weekly needs. The term “affordable” played right into our choices… along with new ski jackets/gloves to help with the cool ocean breezes…

The only problem would be to fit our weekly groceries in the small trunk space. But, it could be done with ease. And, to be able to lock up the seating areas when we are inside shopping. YRMV

But, as easy as past investments go, the spring semester college fees came up quickly since the fall semester was coming to a close these coming weeks. So, no street roadster to fit nicely next to my wife’s station wagon in our garage. The cool thing is/was, the early morning fire up and rumble idle, would sound wonderful in the quiet neighborhood…

I saved my bank account from collapsing by spending money on car parts and keeping it light.

Not much saved this year and what I did save doesn't appear to be worth anything.
