I had a 1974 XLCH and when I picked it up from Robison's H-D in Daytona the mechanic told me to start it from the side to avoid being thrown over the handlebars. Wasn't a problem until one day I gunked it down at the carwash and unfortunately got water under the points cover which turned to rust and allowed the flyweights to stick in the advanced position. Came out of a bar one night and romped on it to find out I could touch my nose with my knee. My buddy on his electric start Z1 Kawasaki got a good laugh out of that.
