Thanks so much, now I have a better idea on how to do it.
I ***ume when I tack the mounts for the split bone sand mock the axle in possition, ill have a better idea on how long the new spring will need to be,also I'll have to heat and bend the perch mounts.
    Here's another idea

Be aware of your caster when you are making wishbone mounts and possible crossmember changes.

You can use the '37 pedals and fabricate a master cyl mount like V/8 Garage does.
Little bit of metal and hardware; low cost and easy.

'39 pedals fit with a little trim to X member opening. Clutch linkage matches and it has a master cylinder mount. '39 pedals usually cost $$ tho.

'40 pedals work too; but you need to add the Z bar and change the throw out shaft. '40 pedals don't cost much; but more work involved.

I ordered a 39 break ***embly from a hammer and tomorrow i will order the boling bros rear hydraulic brake set,
Today i finished breaking both axles down and flattening the rear crossmember the way @Marty Strode showed in one of his Tech articles...
Good thing about this frame, everything came apart pretty easy, except those ****ing perch bolts!!
I pulled the extra parts i had laying around...I just gotta read read read, and get ypur guys help to set the front suspension.

In the past barnfind08* had bushings; otherwise a chunk br*** drain pipe from Home Depot will do for the big one and a bearing house should have the small ones.

You have great skills evident in your past projects. The recent rebuilding of the '51 COE comes to mind. You are expanding your skillset here. Learning. That is what life is all about. Do not cut yourself down. Maybe ask more questions before pulling the trigger on items that "Look like that will work". The knowledge is here. Use it to your advantage. Lastly. "Never give up".

Thank you im just looking for solid straight fwd answers,I might not be asking the right questions maybe.

Thanks Rich,I appreciate your guys input in my other threads but this is a new to me experience I want to get it right before I have to redo a bunch of stuff.

Merry Christmas to all,Santa brought me a sunny day to enjoy after yesterday's *****azz rain tried to spoil my mojo, I was able to squeeze some work on the frame,I moved a bunch of stuff around and pulled my HD table out to put the frame on it..
I was going to use my electric hoist but it got rained on so i didnt want to risk getting a short.
Being a certified torta pounder I know the drill, grab the legs, pull with your back with a jerking twisting motion,up on the bed,in this case table then go to the arms,repeat..
Thats as far as I got done before I got rained on again...
That gave me time to grill some ribs and I had some friends over..
Ill have some questions trough out the week for the ones that stay connected in the hambs airwaves of hell. 20251224_075733.jpg 20251224_075737.jpg 20251224_103449.jpg 20251224_103728.jpg 20251224_103744.jpg

In your previous post it appeared to me that you were cutting yourself down which is why I responded. I tried to elaborate to you to slow down and learn before doing. That will permit you to "ask questions and wait for a response" so you do not have to "redo a bunch of stuff." I am not versed in your suspension setup but am following you to learn myself.

Hey Rich.. when you split up your bones and tacked them to the underside of the frame,
How did you measure for the posies narrow spring?
Perch center to center then subtract the spring hangers? Thanks in advance

I installed the bungs in the wishbone, screwed the tie rod ends in leaving a 1/4" of threads showing past the jam nuts, determined how far apart I wanted the brackets to be, laid the axle and bones out on the floor, squared them up at that spread, heated the perches right above the eyes, and twisted them so they were 90 degrees to the axle. Then I measured the center to center of the eyes and used Posies spring eye c-c chart to determine the spring to order. Once the spring arrived, I took it apart and installed the main leaf & shackles to axle and bones. In my case I was able to flip the bare frame over and set the axle, bones, & mounts on it at ride height, squared everything up and tacked the frame mounts. Double checked it and fully welded the mounts.

Do I even need 37 perch pins or can i modify aftermarket pins and buy aftermarket and buy the lower shock mounts?
Use the pins for headlight mounts?

Any '37-'48 perch pin would work; but not for the shock mounts that go on the bottom which I don't think would do you much good anyway.

Interesting thread. lots going on. When I think of 37 pickups the stock appearing 37 built by Johnny Rotten, Fat Jack Robinson's son. In my mind it's perfect.
