Need some help from the experts. I was at SRN sometime around ‘05 I think. Inside one of the buildings, there was a beautiful, maroon 32 roadster. It had a twin turbo small block in it and the story was they wanted to drive it to Bonneville, go 200 miles an hour, and drive it back home. I believe the car said Bonneville 993 on it. Does anybody remember which month or mag is featured in? I want to look at that build again. Thank you Wade.
I think Currie did that, but not positive. But their car was red, and I think supercharged not turboed. I hope someone else can answer for you.
I Might be thinking of wrong Red roaster ,The one I am thinking of Ford Boss powered Hemi style , Double Duty Race / /Street this roadster well known thoe , If a different Roaster with sb I would be interested in the article also .
I think there was a picture of it in "Hot Rod; the Art of Peter Vincent". I'll look when I get home tonight. It was a deuce highboy roadster, initially painted red oxide, with the number 996 on the quarter. Built in the St Louis, MO area by a guy named Stirnemann (sp?) known for turbos. Rodders Journal did an article comparing it with a Boyd-built AMBR winner; both were owned by the same guy, a St Louis lawyer, I think. Do any of these snippets jog anybody else's memory?
Gary's correct...that car was built by Jack and Harry Stirnemann. I don't recall if it was owned by George Lange or if Lange was just involved with it...they were all good friends and got up to a lot of hot rod antics together. There was an article about the car in issue #35 of The Rodder's Journal, and here's a little info from Louise Noeth: https://savethesalt.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/FFT_Jan11_Mo_Mile_Men.pdf
This is the one, I knew it was built close to me, but didn’t remember St Louis (1 1/2 hours away ) I’m pretty sure it was in Street Rod Builders also?
Isn’t one of the Stirnemans a HAMBer? I remember talking with him about his primered 34 5-window at the HAMB Drags many years ago.
Is this the car? Hot Rod Nov' 97 with a link to the article below https://www.hotrod.com/features/switch-hitter-982-1635-126-1
