I sanded the floor and chipped out what was left of the old, cracked seam sealer and resealed it. Then I got some primer on the bare metal.

I got the floor painted today. Here is a before and after.

My compressor is in one garage and the car is in another so I can't spray when it's this cold. This is the paint I used with a 4" roller. The nap worked better than the foam roller which just slid over the paint.

Now that I have the weight of the engine to load the suspension, I decided to check things out. Right upper ball joint was wasted. Since it's easier to change before the front end is on, here we go. This will give me an opportunity to clean and paint an area I couldn't get to before (just when I thought I was done with that, lol).

I used Proforged 1/2" longer ball joints which help the geometry and I cut about half off of the rubber bumpers. Those mods will give me maximum suspension travel.

    Mission accomplished.

Got a few more things done. Installed the floor drains, cleaned up and installed the brake pedal and pushrod, Modified the left rear brake line to clear the second upper control arm, and hung the starter and headers.

Moved on to the Steering Column. A while back I cut everything off of it and Duraglased the holes to make a fake floor shift column. Both bearings were shot, the turn signal switch was missing, the grease bag on the u-joint was torn, and it was ****py looking.
Gave it a quick cleanup and a spray bomb job and replaced the bearings and grease bag. The guys on the X-frame site said the repop T/S Switches were problematic so I sourced an NOS one from the auction site. When I get the other interior pieces ready to paint, I'll spray the shift bowls.

Plugging away. Gl*** beading the rusty garnish moldings and dash pieces to prepare them for paint.

Man, I'm trying. My goal is to get it running and driving by the end of August.

Thanks! I don't know about that. Checked out your thread, cool that you are doing it with your Grandpa.

I tried an experiment with something that I read about here on the HAMB, Patina paint restoration. I started with CLR for a few minutes, washed it with Comet in Dawn dish soap, rubbed in some Meguire's #7 and left it over night, then I buffed it with rubbing compound. As you can see, it definitely brought back a lot of the blue so I'm calling it a victory. The car is going to get painted but for now she will look way better cleaned up a bit.

Ok, enough screwing around with the Meguiars #7, time to get back to work.
Finished gl*** beading the garnish. A few pieces had some pitting so I shot it with Eastwood high build. Pleasantly surprised, I sprayed it heavy enough to run but it laid down nice and sanded great.
    IMG_7819.jpeg

I picked up these arm rests on-line. One was painted black, gl*** beaded it and it came out nice. Sanded the other one.
    IMG_7821.jpeg

Sanded the coating off the roll bar.
    IMG_7831.jpeg

    Sanded the dash.
    IMG_7859.jpeg

Tore down the instrument cluster and sanded that down.
    IMG_7849.jpeg
    IMG_7857.jpeg

I'm ready to paint all this stuff, just waiting for more cooperative weather.

Nice. Is your dash one of the aluminum one's?
I pulled the dash out of my 61 and was real surprised how heavy it was. That is something I need to look into on the Shaker to get that car on a diet.
