Getting the thread ready for this weekends Portland Roadster Show. Going to be hauling Taboo down tomorrow for the Hall of Fame display as the show celebrates its 70th Anniversary this year. Also taking my O/T Camaro down to be part of a club display (look for a thread over in the off topic area for the other good stuff from the show later). If anyone comes on down, stop by one of the cars and say hello! Ill be around at the show most of the weekend. Ill start updating with pictures when I get down there.

I'd love to go but don't know if my knees will handle the walking in that place. I'd have to do it on Friday though.

I jumped in the car and ran down this afternoon, rented a skooter and wheeled around looking and taking photos for a couple of hours. Here are some I took photos of . Thanks for the pics! Some amazing cars there. I’m gonna definitely try to plan better so I can make it up there next year.

Thanks for sharing, some of the cars were in the Boise Roadster Show the previous week. Wish we could could have gotten the Dream Truck and Zochhi’s (sorry about the spelling) Pontiac though. Would have loved to have seen them in person.

I stopped by on my way home from work yesterday afternoon. Didn’t take the T as we were supposed to get some rain. I did take the T down to the Vancouver Bolt swap meet this morning. Brisk!!!

A buddy and I drove down yesterday, 400 mile round trip. I hadn't been in many years. Lots of great cars, on topic and off. No pics though, well I did take a shot of Eric Estrada because my buddys wife loved him when she was a kid =) Oh and we did hit the In and Out Burger on the way down, my first time there.

I did want to say the X51, first picture posted was a car I had never seen in person. Never really liked it just seeing it in pictures, but in person I really liked it a lot. Probably the same result with lots rides you have only seen in pics.

I looked for you on Friday while I was there. Your Camaro and Taboo were standing tall! Transmission slow?

I didn't make it this year, but did you have to have two forms of ID and a gold credit card to afford a beer and a sausage dog?

Cash green money worked for everything there and I'd say the ID depended on your appearance but they had a whole section in the far end of the Expo center in the room the gun show used to be in that was full of high school kids cars and there were a lot of young kids floating around the show so more Ids may have been checked than in past years. The Skooter Vendor had my ID so I would have had to pull out my VA medical ID or my VFW life time Membership card. That one usually gets me in. My dad took me down to the Renton Wa VFW and signed me up on Monday night Dec 16, 1968 (I got in from Nam late on Dec 15) but I didn't get my life member card until 95. IMG_9178.JPG

    Hello,

20 years ago, my wife and I drove by the Portland area on our way home from Canada. We had planned on stopping to see “the Show.” But, two “drive by” searching on the freeway was as close as we could get. There were no rooms available North of the city and as we continued South, the first place off the main roadway was about 130 miles in Cottage Grove.

We stopped at almost every freeway crossover and exit that had a motel sign showing from the freeway. The early Motorola cell phone we had was virtually useless as the lines for those listed on the maps were not answering. If they did answer, they instantly said, “We are full, today/tonight.”

Although we were well past the Portland Show. We wanted a place to stay for the night. 130 miles later we finally found a place. But, the next day, it was sprinkling and so, we headed home along the California coastline once across the Oregon border.

Luckily, we outran the storm coming down the coast and had a nice sunny road trip all the way back to So Cal, even with a couple of stop overs on the coastal cities.

    Jnaki

At every stop we made from North of Portland to Cottage Grove in the South, the owners of the motels said the traffic and motels are mostly full of people attending the “big show” in Portland, meaning the Roadster Show. Ha!

Here is one of my favorite custom cars in the array of photos. Stylish and well done…YRMV

Was probably when I was running back to get grandpa. He tore his shoulder up a few weeks ago working on his chevy pickup, so I was running down early to wipe the cars down and then run back and get him to be out at the show for a few hours each day.
