I've been sitting on this Oldsmobile F-28 coupe for a few years now. I'm not sure if it was ever a finished car but the wheels/tires suggest the build goes back to the 70s or early 80s. Fortunately the grill, fenders, hood, etc. were included. I plan to start on it this summer.

I can’t wait to see your build thread on this one. With a Rocket Olds, multi carbs, etc I hope

  9. Here’s one you don’t see every day. IMG_1257.jpeg what you see before you is a 1959 Dodge Townsman. It’s a former forest service vehicle.

    You're in luck.

As it I happens this all started with an over the counter J2 intake manifold (no provision for a choke). Since then I've collected a couple of 371 engines, a variety of multi-carb intakes, and a T10 ******.

By sheer numbers, Ford. By style, Ford. Ease of build, Ford. Performance potential, Ford.

Does this mean I only like Fords? Uh, I'm a depression era Packard spe******t. If not a Ford, for me at least, my non-blue oval would probably be something really orphaned. I want to build a 289 Flathead Cord Westchester sedan. I can't get it out of my head that the supercharged cam coupled with higher compression and Supreme balancing would net a fast vintage car that moons the concours tea set. Or how about a 41 Packard 160 coupe. HC head, dual carbs, skirts, draggin *** just barely enough to notice, and enough grunt to spin the tires hard as you leave a meet where they're judged. Too fun. Nearly every Ford rod would be faster, easier, cheaper, and in fact get twice the attention in any group of hot rod or custom peers. That's not a bad thing. Just think, the venom that millions spat at 5.0 Mustangs will indeed return some day. Maybe 1 more generation. Why? Same reasons I opened with. Similar? ****in eh, you gonna tell me you've never seen an LS powered Fox body? I hate raw oysters. I love ribs. Now about that Cord idea...o_O

I like your take and agree with most of it. However if you were parked next to a line of 32 roadsters and 49 Mercs, this would draw all the eyes. Damn.

Sometimes they get it right. I'd do that color, blackwalls, supercharged exhaust. The camshaft in the supercharged cars is different timing and (I think) firing order. They are fast. Lose the complexity of the supercharger and...;)

47 Cadillac conv. Lowered just a little. Some sympathetic shaving, not too much, it's a Caddy. Remove the flathead V8 and swap in a 1st gen overhead. Ideally, the 390 and Turbo-Hayramatic from mid/late 63. Frosty color, subtle custom interior. Custom top done without the wire on. 1pc center deck, and gently padded side flaps to cover the snaps. You'd have to beat em off with a stick. Make mine a misty green pearl, dark green guts.
