What OT crap are you working on

As someone working on a 'dunno if it will ever get done', Ecobooooost conversion its fun to see what others have done.
Using the MT82? For a very large appearing transmission it can fit in some snug places. Only had to clearance for the top ribs, but not bad, granted the engine is shoved as far back as we dare.
Going to make a cutout in the firewall for the high pressure fuel pump.
Are you using factory hydro mounts?
MGW shifter is a fantastic piece.
You can see the gumsmithing in it, absolutely beautiful.

Did you tell Dustin there are easier ways to check drum shoe wear.

I hear a lot of *****ing about mt82's online, but I loved mine. Must've been ***embled on a Wednesday.

 

Actually, since the Ecoboost is derived from the 2.3 duratec, and that was installed in Miata as the MZR, the Miata six speed was a bolt on. They'll handle the power and it's a smaller package than the MT 82.

 

Today I’ve learned that if the data plate reads T150 model axle that there are different GVW . The GVW determines which hub is used . My parts truck has the lighter hubs . So the search continues tomorrow

 

Ordered an autometer magneto signal converter and new tach for the 30 A.
Going to be doing an engine swap that includes a vertex magneto.

 

Installed the reworked dash in the '64 El Camino and started wiring it into the harness.

 

Front and rear gl*** + trim installed. Chased a fuel gauge issue for a couple of hours yesterday turned out the repop sender was sticking, took car out and wailed on it ...sender functions now Installed an HP main body on the double pumper and dialed in the accelerator pumps , runs really well

 

Had this truck Explorer for about 3 years so I decided to do the oil pan gasket yesterday. Found some pieces of spring tensioner in the oil pan. Someone suggest it could be the tensioner from the balance shaft so now I'm trying to decide if it's even worth fixing at this point.

Trimmed master cylinder bracket welded up/Painted and back in the car. Nice to see some clearance without the valve cover being hacked to death.

 

I'm making a 3d printed Tiki shift knob for my son's dune buggy.
This is just a test run, the finished product will be in a walnut color.

 

I spent the weekend painting my backyard cabinets black (not pictured)
and moving some stuff because im having pavers put on the RV parking..
Im also going to attempt to give my son intro to grafitti..Hopefully it evolves into pinstripping or any automotive paint.
I didnt realize how much OT stuff i have.

Semi remote shifter uses soft bushings. Torqued over engine and a fast shift prevents proper gate alignment and cause a missed shift.
MGW shifter eliminates this issue as it directly mounts to the transmission.

Early models up to ~'18 used soft syncronizers. Missed and excessively hard gi joe kung fu grip shifts wear on them. Exascerbating notchy/hard/missed shifts.

Early dual m*** fly wheel.
Dual m*** is not the best for high rpm and torque. They tended to wear out which caused clutch chattering.

After 'fixing' folks ~30 year old mower its dying after it warms up again. Cold has a nice snap to exhaust, warms up it putt putts and quits. Let it cool down and rechecked everything, valve adjustment fine, compression, spark, fuel. Its heat related as when it cools down a bit it runs but just in a putt putt manner.

Changed oil but damned if I can't remember which oil I used.
Maybe grabbed a bottle of M1 0-20W and its too thin when warmed up and ye olde B&S flat head looses compression through the ring(s)?
Would a cracked ring have compression cold but leak when hot?

Obvious issues are not always obvious.
Gas cap loose, runs great.
Gas cap with the bateman twist, slows down and stalls.
There isn't a gasket and no visible vent on cap itself, its the original cap AFAIK. B&S 692046 is the style. New caps show a translucent white gasket.

 

In a moment of weakness I sold my paid off five year old Kubota with the 60” deck loader tiller and box blade for more than I paid for it. It’s funny what cash can make you do but I ended up buying a new cheap pos that has gotten the job done but the last time I used it last fall I managed to jamb a large branch in the deck belt which made it come off. So I removed the branch and got everything going and managed to hit a brick that my grandson uses for fireworks witch shredded the deck belt so bad that I don’t have anything to take with me to compare it to. So now I’m stuck trying to go back to Tractor Supply, I’ve never been impressed with the help there.
I’ve kicked myself every day for getting rid of the Kubota the loader was the most useful tool I’ve ever had.

 

You might get lucky and find the right belt on the first try, or maybe not but you should be able to find the model # of that cheap pos and look it up on the internet to find the belt you need.

 

I always find having a positive at***ude in the beginning of the repair process doesn’t help me bit, buying the one that they say fits and the next shorter one and the next longer one also is probably the only way I will save me an extra trip to get another belt. I hate plumbing…

 

I don’t have enough projects so I thought I’d add one . The price was right new tires $1600 and storage fee $800 plus half the fuel cost to get it from Colorado to Wisconsin. Needs some work I’ll replace carpet and head liner, fix the directional lights and the AC on the cab refinish the hard wood floors in the Bed room and hall. I really need my head examined.

I replaced the mismatched temp gauge in my truck today, and I learned that ****og temp gauge capillary tubes are full of ether.

 

Put my new to me 327 on the Dyno yesterday evening.

On the mag, it was pulling too much Total timing ... 46 degrees first pull, tried backing down but it just wasn't happy with less initial timing... to run it, I need to send it out and have the curve re done... no big deal


On the Mag the engine made
303HP @ 5005 RPM
327 lbft @ 3881


Swapped in an MSD Pro Billet that is locked out and set it to 32 degrees, motor was happy. made a few more pulls


Picked up quite a bit on the first pull With the MSD

The sweet spot is 37 degrees, the gains were there but not enough to keep going. Torquey little engine.

I am pretty happy with the final pull of the night.

There was allot of learning going on yesterday too, it was a ton of fun.

The best that the engine made with the MSD Pro Billet was

356HP @ 5395 RPM
365 lbft @ 4125


I have an MSD Pro Billet HEI that was supposed to be here for the Dyno Session but the shipping was delayed. I do not want to run a 6AL, trying to keep it simple.


***uming the new distributor shows up Monday we are going to pop it in and do a couple more pulls and call it good.

A buddy of mine is moving and brought me a bunch of stuff today including a set of bbc heads with the optional intake restrictor... also a flat plane sbc crank that was supposedly from Hank the crank

Thanks, but it was a cheap aftermarket gauge, no loss at all. Replaced it with an expensive aftermarket gauge.

No bunny, but I did see a meth head walking away and I have this new scar on my side.......
I had just caught a whiff of it when I cut the line to pull the gauge out. I recognized the smell from having worked in a lab a while back.
