Nice work on the chopper

 

Still too hot for me right now. Lower 90's today and not much better next week. I hope to drive my car at least once this year in the cooler, fall weather, but I'm sure it will jump straight into full blown winter as it usually does. Then I'm sure I'll complain about the cold/snow and wish for spring again-as usual!

 

High 60's today here. I heard some thunder a few minutes ago. We had quite the light show yesterday, and the thunder shook the garage. Downpour that I was glad not to be out in. Next week the temps are headed back into the 80s and no rain. Perhaps summer isn't quite over yet.

 

I’m not one for car shows….I like a good swap meet…or a bad one…I drive my stock ‘50 Fordor as much as I can…lost two teeth off 2nd gear and swapped the ****** (can we still say that?) for one out of a parts car…got lucky, it’s smoother now than it’s been in 15 yrs…got the frame back under my ‘51 Tudor …prepping now for winter wiring…built an OT porch…gonna spend a month junking s**** metal, then get ready to do a lot of snow plowing….and listen to my wife complain about the cold……Mark

 

While Porsches are OT, I would deem a cozy porch on a garage to be just fine. Sounds like a productive summer vacation.

 

Got a good start on building a workshop in the small pole barn out back. The concrete floor is a week from being fully cured. Kept it wet for 7 days. Ready to get some lumber and plywood and insulation. Urethane paint for the floor. Build the doors. Hoping to get it all ****oned up and the heat hooked up before it gets too "BER".

 

We are still in the heat of summer. Upper 90s every day here in central Missouri. I have made one event so far this summer and have two more to go if I don't break the car.

Hell yeah! Hot days, hot tarmac, hot tire rubber on your fenders, something cool to wash it down.

 

I am headed to the beach next week for Rod Run, our annual salute to the end of summer. It looked rainy a few days ago but the iphone now says sunny and mid 60's. Time to go play cars with the other kids. I'll make sure to send home some updates and pictures.

 

doing more traveling. Went to Hawaii a couple of times . Went down to Texas for 2 weeks and help a friend get his formula ford team up and going. Then my wife said I needed a shed for the stuff iam selling. ?

Big storm at mid-night!
Woke up today to a big *** oak tree blown down right at my grandson’s house!
Spent a couple of hours with him and his dad cutting limbs off his new Bronco!
Good news is that it just barely got the house, and missed the electrical service!
Only one limb on the porch roof. Whew!

 

3 weeks ago...think it will be the last time this year with the van out at the river...

Hickory with an Osage wedge. I’ve done close to 200 axes and prefer hickory over ash.

 

Rain killed car things yesterday, but heading out to Boring, Ore. for a free Labor Day cruise a local pub does every year. Looks cloudy, but supposed to clear off and be 74 degrees, so should be perfect weather for a drive out there!

 

That's a lot of firewood just in time for the Brrr months.

Living in a van down by the river, every motivational speakers dream.

Streets may be wet for another hour or so, drive careful. You would think with as much rain as the PNW gets that people would know how to drive in the stuff. Keep your eyes open and the shiny side up. (I never understood that expression, the bottoms of mine are just as shiny as the top). Nevertheless, have fun!

 

I finished up the Sedan Delivery and got it off to the upholsterer. Then, I got to work on the Ranch Wagon. SD should be done this week and ready for the drive to the Triple Crown Show. The main thing I have left to do on the wagon is change the rear gear to a more freeway friendly 3.0. I can't post pics of it because of the OT wheels.

 

Some of you make me feel like a slacker, I did hit a couple of local shows but didn't see enough Hamb friendly cars to justify starting a thread on it and my knees gave out all too soon at the last one I went to because the mobility scooter I bought to use at rod trots has a wiring issue after I got it stuck next to the driveway and did something to it. What ever it is is beyond my paygrade for electrical trouble shooting.

Got the AOD rebuilt and back in the '29AA. Installed gl***, roof, p***enger door, front bumper and cab marker lights. Engine was running fine up until a week or so ago. Now hardly starts, runs rough, won't stay lit. Plenty of spark at the distributor, fuel pump pressure is plenty, carburetor pumps fuel from nozzles. If I can figure out the engine issue I may be able to get it inspected, ***led, licensed and on the road this fall.

 

Dude, did you paint that? That is a lot of body work and paint! Looks - real nice.

I haven't been to the concourse but that is a gorgeous view from Maryhill of the Columbia. I hope you figure out your gremlin

Maybe you picked up some crud out of the tank. Clean out/replace those filters. A buddy of mine broke down in my driveway one day. No fuel moving through the plastic see through filter. He towed it home and took off the filter he had recently installed and there was only a pinhole in one end. Enough gas got through to fill the bowls (kinda) but not enough to run it once the bowl were empty. A short while later the same thing happened to my daughter. She called me with the same symptoms, I asked her is she replaced the fuel filter recently. She had. She removed it and found the same undrilled holed in the end. If you have one of those plastic filters, start there.

No. This project was bought in boxes. It was an already painted stock body, sitting on the stock ch***is. It was then put on a Roadster Shop ch***is and ***embly begun. There were modifications, especially to the dash, that required some repainting. Matt Snopek did the majority of the body work and paint. My friend Steve Gibson did the rest. It's pretty slick.

 

Thanks for the input, Billy. I took off the miniscule filter (about the size of a nickel in diameter and blew through it without any resistance, but I'll change it out to a larger filter once I get into town and go by the parts store. It's got to be something simple as one day it was running just fine and now seldom starts and runs rough, like starving or out of time. The distributor is locked in place, had it dialed in to 10 initial advance and the vacuum at a steady 20 or so. It ran smooth as a sewing machine until now. Carburetor is also suspect as it is a 4160 (D8PE 9510- PE List 8411) vacuum secondary without float adjustment - some sort of mid-70s Holley replacement monstrosity I picked up cheap. I thought it might be starving in the primary bowl so that's the next thing to take off and inspect.

The So Cal outlook is grey overcast and cloudy. Thanks to the hurricane rolling up to the stop off point. The cold California coastline current is the only thing keeping those hurricanes South and West of the So Cal coast. Normally, it is hot and sunny all day with 75 to 80 degree weather during the week. A nice ocean breeze blowing on shore cools things off versus the inland high temperatures of 90-100.

In 1939, one hurricane stalled right near San Diego and all of So Cal got blasted with destruction. Our favorite beach in Belmont Shore lost a row of homes and only a few still are standing. If you watched a recent TV mini series on Apple TV called ‘Lucky,” you saw one of three remaining homes along that beach coastline as one of the sets for the action and dialogue.

Currently, that area is getting plummeted with wave surges sneaking inside of the Long Beach Breakwater and rolling inside. During these storms or portions of storms, those swells eat away at the beach sand. We used to have a great place to surf at the entrance of the two Jetties and the end of the breakwater during those southern hemisphere storms. We could not wait until the storms brought good size waves that hit the Long Beach shoreline. Park in the lot and walk a long way to the water’s edge to surf. Today, there is no sand left… Yikes!

In our last two years of college, my wife and I used to sit on the ocean side of the Long Beach Peninsula for some quiet studying and sun. Now, watching it on the news channels, we can see how the south swells have come in on consecutive storms and eaten away at the sand. We used to be able to walk about a half block in the pure white sand to reach the ankle lapping shoreline waves… times have definitely changed…

But, during these months, the weather has been odd due to the week long influence of the swirling hurricane on its path far away from us. We are getting the long, extended cloud formation swirling far away from the center, although the center is sending out the wave strength that is also hitting our So Cal shorelines. So, during the hurricane moving west due to the cold water current coming down the coast, we are now in a “blah” stage of weather and no surf.

Big rain drops, then a slight sprinkle and the some rain to cover the back patio surface. Then its stays threatening all day with a slight “muggy” feel. But, then, a nice breeze comes rolling in during the afternoon to cool the 80 ++ degree temperatures down.
