Still waiting on my shipment from last November.
My friends always teased me about my prized collection. I’ve got 1-83 but seems 84 and up might be the hardest ones to get?

 

Received notice my items that I ordered on the redone website have shipped. I ordered them on Saturday.

 

I got the email also So I ordered a T shirt just to be entered in the contest,I only need issues 1-5 to complete my set. They were sold out of the shirt I wanted,so I ordered second choice. I hope I get it.

 

Renewed last winter, received issue #87 the email said #88 was soon?. Two issues a year for 100.00$, I am done sending any more money, I like the magazine but will only buy it going forward if I have it in my hands.

 

$99.95 is a two year subscription, a one year is $59.95 but I see your point. OTOH, if you figure each of the four issues (two per year x2 years) is worth $10 each you are really only wasting 8 cents a day ( [99.95-40.00]/730 days ) and I can afford that while hoping for better days. It's raining outside and only 20 minutes until lunch time so I am doing silly stuff like this

 

For me it’s not the cash outlay, it’s the waiting especially when the website mentions this- “When you subscribe to The Rodder’s Journal you receive each quarterly publication…” but then this comment is added- “…we are returning to our regular quarterly schedule- and regardless of exact timing…”. In other words don’t count on four issues per year.
I believed in him early on and subscribed in 1995, I have a full set and my $59.95 sub runs out with #88. Never got in on the $100 lifetime, and not because I wouldn’t shell out the C-note but because I never got the email, in fact never saw the $200 lifetime offer either.
For me the fat lady has sung.

The Fat Lady may be on deck, but the chorus seems to be still humming. And, what do you have to lose?

 

I have nothing to lose because I’m through with the waiting, excuses and promises. My $$$, my choice.

The next issue of The Rodders Journal will come eventually, complaining about what was originally promised doesn't change a thing, Steve continues to publish the best automotive magazine out there and as long as he keeps them coming no matter how sporadic I'll support his efforts.

Steve could have thrown his hands up long ago and quit, but for some reason he continues despite all the naysayers.

There is no doubt about it he is in it for the long haul. HRP

 

The problem is all that has been done with a lack of integrity and honesty that would not be tolerated from any other business.

 

All well and good, but complaining hasn't helped at all, apparently Steve is not the best businessman and continues to promises the moon, would you have him close the doors and never receive another issue?

I try to be optimistic but there is not one thing I can do to speed up the process. HRP

I would rather him tell the truth. That shouldn't be too much to ask a business who has taken someones money to do. In fact it should be a basic tenant of running an honest business. The fact that people continue to excuse his lies with "he is not a good businessman" is ridiculous.

 

He should be jailed for mail fraud. You take peoples money through the mail and do not send the goods it's fraud. Why do you people give him a p***? If he was selling car parts and not delivering them everyone would be after him with torches and pitchforks. If you sent money to a guy for 8 pistons and he only sent 4, would you be sticking up for him, or be pissed off and telling everyone you got ripped off? Double standard for sure.

 

Absolutely. If you ship a 20.00 part one day late, there will be 4 columns saying that the seller is crook. But, Stevie can rip off 100s of people for thousands of dollars (likely around 100k or ?), illegally take money, do not answer calls or emails, lies for years etc. Why is Stevie is still respected and still people put him on a pedestal? And why do people feel bad for him? I don't get it.

 

Same notice received here. Cool weather's coming so ordered a hoodie. Maybe I'll get it by spring....

 

K13, BJR. GZ , Are you guys saying you haven't received your magazines, if so I understand your frustration.

BTW. I was under the impression this was a civil conversation but some of the comments seem aimed at me, that I don't understand, I am not Steve's pal and I haven't been shorted one single issue, granted they are way behind in shipping.

I think it's best for me to step aside and forgo any further comment. HRP

 

Easy fix - Bankrupt Rodder's Journal. Start Rodders Journal the next day.

 

....No worries, Danny. There's a small group on here that have allowed their bitterness to reach unbelievable levels and they tend to lash out like little children over this topic. I honestly think that they wake up each day filled with more and more vitriole and cynicism regarding the Rodder's Journal and can't wait to continually berate Steve and anything to do with the company or publication. It has become an obsession with them. Sue him, arrest him, hang him from the nearest tree, I don't think that anything would make them happy, not a refund of all monies, not a special delivery of all magazines dropped at their front door. It borders on an illness. For the sake of your mental health, let it go. All of your rants aren't changing anything and it makes you come off as a bunch of bitter old men. There are more important things in this world to be concerned about.

 

And production.

 

Back in 1987 I bought a Penny's "Lifetime Battery". Back then they lasted a long time and people usually got a new car in five years or so (not me). It lasted until 1995. Penny's no longer carried car batteries, but they gave me a chit for a new Exide battery of the same size/amps. It only lasted three years.
I bought my first TRJ in 1994 and they are still trying to put out product. Covid and the post office couldn't kill them off. Go steve.

 

I agree with you 100%. I swear I think some on here would get great pleasure out of seeing the magazine fail completely. What then? There is no other magazine out there that even comes close even at one issue a year!
The constant hatred spewed over a magazine subscription on here is astonishing! I hope some of you never have any real problems in life. God only knows what you will do then!

What I also see is the endearing human trait of inability to see and accept the views of others.
Each to their own, guys. Trying to shoot down opinions is a fool's folly........ and I mean on both sides.
If you have ever been told to take some pride in your appearance, it isn't only to do with your clothes.
You are en***led to voice your opinions, but for fugsake, put the damn pitchforks down...

You are obviously limiting your observations to US publications ……….
Here, we are fortunate to have the “New Zealand Rodder”, done in a similar manner as TRJ , but without the ‘hiccups’.
- I was going to say ‘without the issues’ but that didn’t sound quite right……….…. ……..

 

I am not aiming my comments at any one person here on the Hamb. I just don't get the at***ude of people being OK with getting a small percentage of what they paid for, and then defending the person who took their money. Is this what we expect from our vendors now a days? If so this is a sad statement of what we consider normal in today's economy. Let me put it another way, you buy and pay for 4 wheels. They only send you one, but charge you for four. Are you OK with that. What's the difference with this magazine scam? If you are OK with a vendor taking your money for 4 items a year, and you only get one, you have a problem. That's what I am saying.

The response to our updated website has been extremely good and somewhat overwhelming, we appreciate all of your support! We have called in reinforcements to help us with shipping. Two local hot rodders Mike Milligan and Dan Fisher have joined our efforts. Mike works next door full time at the East Coast Hot Rod Garage, but has been helping us in his off hours. That's his channeled ’33 Ford pickup with a bed loaded full of TRJ merchandise. He has recently added the S.Co.T. blower to its Flathead engine. Dan owns the red five-window ’32 coupe that was originally built by Butch Martin nearly a quarter-century ago. Dan drives it to work on nice days and more than once it has been pressed into Post Office duty.

It is very nice indeed to have some running hot rods around The Rodder’s Journal again and we will show more of both in the not-too-distant future.
