[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This was at KKOA Dennison this year [/ QUOTE ] That's nice, but the paint's way too subtle. They gotta have something that grabs you by the eyeballs and says "LOOK AT ME!" [/ QUOTE ] but the riv isn't a "HEY! look at me!" car. its an understated personal luxurey car. IMHO most of the custom rivs are worse than stockers. its just WRONG to fuck with the parking lights for example. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. It's one of the nicest designs to ever come out of Detroit and you really don't have to do much to them. I just think they look better with an eyegrabbing colour, especially flakes/metallics/pearls etc as the curves and lines of the body really show off the effects of custom paint.
I'd post the pics of Donnie's buddy Mike's car, but I'm lazy and don't feel like resizing them... so here's a link instead... http://www.customrodder.com/features/0307cr_obrien/ (now how hard was that Donnie...Hahaha..!!!) latar...Snacks... p.s.- I love the last line in the article by the way..!!
Ok .....Hey guys here's my daily driver Riv. Nothing special really ! super paint, torq-thrusts (still my favorite wheel, a little common now, but a classic look) lowered (old school) heated springs rides a little mushy but I have the KYB silver shocks I plan to put the stiffer white ones on to stiffen the ride a bit. But it is amazing the amount of attention this car gets being so stock...... The Rivs are just a factory Kustom...... -SAM
Hey Radshit, I've been looking for a set of Tru-Rays for the longest. I always liked the cap that looked like a big 2 spoke knockoff. As common as they were on lowriders back in the day here in Denver, they are surprisingly hard to find. Or, if you find them, they are way too expensive. For what people want for a set of Trus, I could go down to Robert's Tire or Fino's and buy a brand new set of wires. The new stuff just doesn't look as kool to me though. Arriba la raza!
This Riviera is still in the club. As for the blue Riviera after i think it went to Japan. I think I maybe Wrong???
Found a 65 in KC for $750 minus engine and tranny, i wil see how bad the shell is tonight. I really only care that the hedlight system is intact and the glass is acceptable. although I imagine body panels are tough to find as well.
is the blue rivi the bubonic plague from kal kustoms/airsyndicate ? if not can someone post a pic of it ?
Riv's are one of my favorite cars. And felt so honored to see how many in Ryans thread on Top 5 put the Rivi's up there. Heres a few of mine. As well as more at Fat Luckys. Under Gallery's> Upholstery> Wyatt's Riviera http://www.southaustinspeedshop.com/main.html I still want to change up my exhaust. With the X-frame I drag pipe, as well as they hold it up from going real low. The next thing is the space for a decent muffler, I'm running glasspacks due to space, but hate the sound. Probably going to go with some of those Sprint cars that look like an auger and slide in the tube.
proof that the wrong wheels can ruin even the most beautiful car in the world. here's what i'd be runnin on those three: car #1: maybe some 17" American Racing Salt Flat Specials. car #2: skylark or tru-spoke wire wheels with two-bar knockoffs, pinner whitewall tires. car #3: supremes with pinner whites.
why don't YOU post pics of YOUR trad cars? you know, kinda what this board is about if you hadn't noticed. sorry but there ain't much love for 22" rollers around here. and if you really care, one of my former cars is pictured upthread.
Wow, Ray search the guys name before layin' into somebody. He may have a low post count but seriously WTF? Not every car in someones garage has to be Old School. Different strokes for different folks. Goodman- I still relish you're cross country drive in the bamboo biatch! And still hate you for buying Mootz's ol' truck. I had no idea you bought that black '64 off ePay. I was watching it thinking about bidding then I missed but luckily found my '58 insted. I don't agree with two of your Rivi wheel selections but hey man at least you got 'em.
yeah, that's about all i said in the first place, so what's the big deal? last i checked this website wasn't The DONK Journal. you're right, different strokes for different folks, so that means you gotta deal with a little mild criticisim now and then.
