Looks like the trapper minibike may have a west bend engine? If it is I bet it's fast. I have seen those engines modded to make over 24 hp on methanol. (Quite stout stock) I am wrapping up a Mcculloch 101 kart engine Taco minibike with my buddy. It should be stupid fast, literally. I don't plan on riding it. It's more to look at. Love everybody's pics.

Here is the one Z-50 that I worked on for my Brother. He found this thing in his own neighborhood and it was 100% complete. Skipstitch did the set over for us.

It's pretty much a death trap, no brakes and ghetto rigged engine. It's my first bike and I'm working on a mini chopper right atm.

I just got this from my uncle and Im not sure how old it is but the motor looks fairly new. It rides just as hairy as a real girder front end:eek: and it goes about 40 mph! Anyone know who built these?

I dont have any pix scanned, but this was my first bike as a young kid. It was a '78 honda hobbit. I grew up on the border of santa monica and venice. (dog town) I was a laid back beach town back then, I used to ride it around town 13 years old with no license. Now its all full of yuppies and assholes. It had a cool little secret "stash" compartment that was really for tools under the rear rack.

I have a few: '64 Skat Kitty "suitcase" minibike, a '69 Taco, a 50CC Italjet mini dirt bike, a '68 Honda Trail 70,and two '69 Honda Trail 70's. The Skat Kitty frame was cast out of aircraft quality aluminum and was made to fit in a suitcase for use by traveling salesman, flight attendants and pilots. It came from the factory with "ape hanger" handlebars that folded up to fit in the suitcase. I restored mine, and I take it to shows with my '63 Ranchero. It is pretty cool, and I have only seen others on the net, never in person.

  19. I dont have a mini bike, but guys on motorcycles treat it like one.
Its a 1965 Lambretta LIS150 hopped up to a 190 with high end profomance parts for 2 stroke engines. Easily does 70mph. Did everything on it myself as well as paint and graphics. Heres a pictures.

my first motorcycle circa 1969. I still feel the same way today when I get on a bike. Rode the HELL out of that thing. ChopPop taught me how to switch the motor out between the go-kart the mini-bike and the edger. My first motor swap :D

I love this post! I have a weakness for early minibikes and have a good collection of magazines called "minibike guide" that I bought in the late 60's and early 70's and still look thru once in a while. I had a Taco 22 when I was 9 years old, so I have a soft spot for those , I own an orig. purple Taco 22 and a nice orig. purple Taco 100, a Taco 44 and a couple of complete 22 frames with forks that need to be restored, an orig. Lil" Indian by Michrona that has a jack shaft with double clutches (2 speed), three clean orig. Honda Z-50's (1969 red, 1970 blue & 1970 yellow with a speedometer). A restored 1952 Whizzer in my game room. Oh, did I mention that I also am sick for vintage 1950's kids quarter midgets? All I need now is more room! Thanks for letting me vent to someone that understands. Casper.

Wow what a collection. Don't see too many of the Taco 100s. many people think mine is a 44, but they are quite different.

I noticed you don't live too far from me.....I'd like to get some sort of minibike reunion, or gathering of some kind going here on the west coast. They have the big Windber reunion back east, but nothing on the left coast.
