The Sidewinder thread got me thinking. Please share some pics of the Golden Age of TF. I love these cars and their bodywork and paint.
The Greer-Black-Prudhomme comes to mind, in its various incarnations...the Glass Slipper...the Scrima-Liner...between this & the sidewinder thread, I need to post a lot of pics. Oh...Sneaky Pete Robinson's SOHC slingshot....& the injected lightweights, like Bob Noice's car, tasty!!
the hawaiian....tv tommy ivo's stuff.....and then theres that whole later 60's stuff......trick candy's by cerny , quick , reoll , to name a few ...gold and silver leaf...cool names ....back when cars had identities...gotta look in some files for pics...found a few....got some more on the other computer.......brandon
Here's my dad on a hard pass at Lions. Briggs & Cagle,392 Chrysler on Fuel with a B&M Torkmaster fluid drive unit.I think the quickest we ran was 8.06-198. Car was metalflake yellow & silver. The parachute was enclosed to clean up the ass end. This car was fittted with a 23T body in 1966 & won Competition Eliminator at the 66 HRM race in Riverside, using a 299" Chrysler on Fuel. I just rescued my dads helmet(pictured) from the NHRA Museum,,still has the 'flake job on it. If you look close, you can see his forehead,,,,crazy times.
The red on is the Scrimaliner,,owned by Ronnie Scrima,George Bacilek(sp)& Don Alderson(Milodon). It was driven by Goob Tuller,& maybe a few other guys. No very successful(like my dads) but beautiful nonetheless.
