I have a feeling you are seeking some of the rarest stuff possible. I've seen and heard of several Horne intakes (had 2 or even 3 in the past myself), and have seen pics of 2 or 3 sets of Gotha valve covers, and seen 1 or 2 sets of Hildebrandt valve covers, but I have never in 14 years of being heavy into the early Olds rocket engines even heard of Sharp stuff for the early Olds rockets. I knew they made valve covers and blower manifolds for the later Olds, but I have never heard or seen anything Sharp for the early Rockets. Good luck in your search!

I have no luck in identifing these early Olds covers, maybe I'll start saying that they are Sharp Equipment

    Wasahawaiian,

The valve covers in your picture that you say are Cal Custom look to me to be Holmes or Moon.

The ones with the globe emblem have been discussed before on this board-- it was speculated at first that they were one-off's, maybe even modified Moon or Holmes covers. But then someone else came up with a pair. And, the fins around the globe supposedly didn't look ground down. Might be a small production run that someone did. Maybe it was Holmes? They look like Holmes/Moon to me.

I'd put my money on a small run of custom castings. Fifty years ago, foundries were everywhere, and most of them didn't have a minimun run figure--they'd cast whatever you wanted, even if it was just a few pair. I've got an aluminum finned cover for 216/235/261 Chevies with the word "SPECIAL" cast in the center. I've never seen another.

Not necessarily. Edelbrock made an intake for early Chevy sixes, but never made a valve cover for them. Evans made a 3x2 for early Olds engines, but I've never seen or heard of Evans valve covers.

I have a Fenton 3-2bbl for early Olds that is almost identical to that Sharp intake. The Fenton name is even on the raised block. I'm think that I remember hearing that the Fenton and Sharp flathead ford intakes were very similar as well. Did Fenton buy out Sharp and "rebadge" all the patterns?

al sharp was one of the best guys in the casting business and made stuff for just about anybody, could have cast stuff for fenton. Since the intakes are the same, wonder if there could have been similar valve covers? or what about the super rare fenton olds headers maybe some sharp too?!:D
