Well in my 37 Olds the trunk was full of NOS parts still in the boxed like door handles and window tracks and regulators all from an auto parts store that went out of business in the 50s also in there was a set of bumper guards and a 57 plate...i havent torn the seats out yet im kind of in the mood after reading all this.

My 53 chevy was loaded with just a bunch of crap parts...the fender skirts were in there though...the original paperwork was in the glove box...I was going through trunk one day and found an NOS automatic headlight dimmer set up still sealed in the gm factory box...

My 1953 Mercury Convertible had a comb and the original owners wallet under the rear seat. Inside the wallet was 5 dollars and a speeding ticket...i sent the wallet back to the address and recieved a letter from the owner telling me some of the history on the car...I found out that two weeks after they bought it it was stolen and the police found it a week later...they still had a bumper in their garage for it. I since have been able to track down every owner of the car and have become friends with several...The car was hen used in the Movie "Liberty Heights" in 1998.

My 1950 Chevy Panel Truck still had the paper covering the wood in the back...found out from talking to the pervious owner that the man who originally purchased the truck got sick and died and his girlfriend just let the truck sit...until the 80s then the guy i bought it off of never drove it...So it has 335 original miles and is documented as the lowest milage Advanced Design truck in the world...go figure

a friend had his car stolen and three months later the cops ring to say they have found it.we go to pick it up armed with a new batt fuel etc. all the while im trying to prepare him for the usual outcome ...
it was dumped an hour and a half from home, when we get there it is all polished ! wearing new mags and good rubber .the biggest sub woofer i have ever seen was on the back seat with a new head unit fitted to the dash !
started first time ,prescription sunglasses still in the glovebox ,we picked up a new ignition on the way home .
it had been sitting two and a half months ,the kid who stole it left his whole life in there including all his clothes i didnt run out of rags for a year

  5. I found a $20.00 bill dated 1963 in my 48 Dodge passenger A pillar when I cut it with a sawzall to chop the top. It was in a place that no one could get to it. I am guessing that someone stuck it near the top for an emergency fund and it worked its way down the A piller.

I bought a 1967 Chevelle 4dr. off of Egay from a Pennslyvania impound lot. I opened the trunk and it was loaded! First a G.I.s duffle bag with smelly clothes. A creeper,a case and a half of Sears Spectrum 10W40 motor oil in cans,A G.I. crank radio telephone, tools, and in the glove box a few parking citations and a bunch of pictures in an envelope of a wedding and a car on fire on the interstate. And about 3 bucks in change under the seats!

I had a really nice '57 Chevy 2 door hardtop back in the mid-60's. My mom needed to use it one day to take my grandmother somewhere, because my dad wasn't home, & she thought they'd listen to some music on the AM. The radio wasn't working too well & she pounded the dashboard & an old pertrified pack of condoms fell out on the floor from underneath the dash. Truthfully, they weren't mine..they must have been there since '57. I caught hell for that, even though I was innocent. I guess that makes up for all of the stuff I didn't get caught for.

IM adding another. This summer I drug in my 51 F1 and found two mumified cats under the hood.
One on each side of the engine on the frame. Hell I never noticed them until I went to yank the engine, they looked like old plastic twisted around the shock mounts.
Needless to say that engine compartment and frame got pressure washed and degreased about six ways.

last week when tearing apart my new 56 chieftan i found a coke bottle between the trunk side panel and the quarter panel. The bottle had a note in it that said you finally found the rattle congratulations swing shift dated the month and year of manufacture

  16. I always wondered if that kind of thing ever happened on the assembly line - that glass would drive you bugshit "pinging" against the metal panels - especially for 50 years!!

Little OT but that reminds me of a story from a fellow that worked on the Fomoco line putting interiors in Pintos back in the seventies. Whenever the supervisor gave him some BS, a handfull of small sheetmetal screws were tossed in behind the dash or inside the doors. Talk about endless rattles.

Its Wacko, Yacko and Dot!! I found three little deer mice like that in a shed I was tearing down and we kept them for months. They were the tamest things. Talk about clean, if you would handle one of them they would spend ten minutes giving themselves a bath. We finally got them a little wheel for exercise and the next morning they were stone dead, ran themselves to death!

  26. I stripped a 63 Rambler once and when i took the cluster out I noticed the dash was full of snake skins. It must have been loaded with snakes when it was sitting in the field.

When I was chopping my 38 truck cab I start smelling this minty smell. I thought my brain had just been rattled too long and hard by the sawzall then out drops this old tube of menthalatum. I also found an old tobacco can once.

In 1969, I bought a used 68 Vette. I found a diamond ring on the battery tray, and I have the ring on right now!

In high school, my buddy had bought a used '76 Toyota Celica, it was a very clean car, but metallic turd brown. His dad was retired military, but was one of the top civilians at Vance AFB in Enid, OK. My buddy and I would go up there to hit golf ball on the range ($0.25 for a HUGE bucket, we'd hit till our arms were tired then pour the rest of the bucket into his bag), or go to the 4 lane bowling alley to bowl.

One time we were going onto the base and got pulled over for a random inspection. They had a drug dog, a beagle that sniffed all around and in his car. He had a weenie dog at home that had been inside his car, so the beagle is wagging away. No problems, went on base.

A couple weeks later, he had bought new seat covers for his car and had to take the seats out to put them on. When he and his dad pulled the passenger seat out, there was an unused glass bong under the seat!!! He told me to come over and showed it to me, then his dad took it and threw it into the trash breaking it. He knew it wasn't either one of ours.

All I've ever found was change, petrified unused condoms, cigarettes and old paperwork, although in my '03 SportTrac I just got, I found a perscription for Viagra (his wife is pretty hot, he said she does 'internet marketing' at home.....) and an old paystub (he doesn't make very much to have Harley's and a H2......).

I was just telling one of my customers about the post I am reading and he told me about finding "a few hundred" boogers on the bottom part of a 70's wagon rear door panel. Damn kids.
