Every time I see a tricked-out van, only two words come to mind ...

  3. If it's a concept, it suppose it gets some slack...but $150,000 to bring it back? The THC count is higher in today's grass...

I hope the current owner doesn't really think it's a concept car. This car was posted in it's unrestored state last year when it was on eBay and someone posted some early 60's showcar pictures of it explaining what it was and who built it. This was someone's custom project, it was not affiliated with Plymouth or Mopar in any way, other than the fact that the dash and running gear is from a '57 Fury.

The restoration looks like it was done well, although I have to question them using new polished Americans and raised white letter radials on a restored 60's custom. The wheels look very out of place to me. Still very interesting to see.

I'm surprised at some of the cars that are pictured here and considered by some as "ugly-ass". A good portion of the cars posted I actually really like. Mostly I'm impressed that these cars were taken all the way from idea to finished product. More than can be said for a lot of people's ideas and projects.

 This post has given me a major headache and I think sleeping tonight will only bring nightmares. I've never seen so many ugly cars with such bad taste. The blue bubble top (saw this at Paso) is a fine example of fantastic bodywork with ugly results and who in hell would take a beautiful factory custom like the '58 Impala and turn it into a ugly duckling. I'm feeling very sick and have to remove myself from this post.

Hell, I think it looks pretty cool. In the update, it doesn't look like they changed much other than the wavy rockers (other than color and wheels)

The update already looks OUT OF DATE- like 1992. The original would be timeless and forever mark a period in time. I see the side pipes added and the storage cut out for the top. I can only imagine some ugly digital gauges, a billet steering wheel and tilt column, tweed upholstery and the vintage driveline heav-ho'ed for some Chevy ZZ-bull crap and an MII front suspension. That's all REALLY difficult to change back on a car that didn't need changing- ugly or not to some.

I agree with you about this, in fact I think I can see some kind of high back seats in the picture.... what a shame.

If you look at all the pics, that playbunny coach is a REALLY nice piece of work. The graphics are very nice, and the more you look at it it flows pretty well. I wouldnt want to own it, but it is beautifully executed.

I don't think Charles Durso's 1948 Buick belongs on the list. Sure, it's radically different, but It's got some good shapes going on. Not perfect, that connie kit needs to be junked and the trunk extended, maybe a inch section out of the rear fenders... but the whole concept is great. That could be built from any unwanted 4dr sedan, and a few miles of welding. My ideal version would keep all the buick stock styling cues, but with those proportions, and have the look and feel of a factory built 2 seater sportscar. Kinda like a "what if" game.

Personally, I like radical ugly cars, it's a nice break from patina and billet rides.

We have a Shoebox Ford running around here like the yellow one pictured. Its worse. The side windows are covered with bowed out steel and it has a hatchback off a vetter or camero on it hang on........okay I threw up!

  28. HOLY SHIT, that fucker's nasty

  29. George is a goof. I see him at the shows wearing those stupid space boot looking sneakers with the zipper up the middle (barf) taking pictures of Scions, and other stupid shit like that. Gonzo. Has some of the goofiest taste in cars. I haven't followed their careers, but i gotta think the talent died with Sam.

  30. THANK YOU!!!!!! I got in a big argument over how fucking much a waste of time this was to build. OONGAPOCH to the highest level. The countless hours spent could've built a half dozen nice cars at least
