I did a search and all I found was queer rockabilly this 'n that, and people whining about how they got kicked out of a bar for wearing a car club jacket. I wanna see some REAL kick arse traditional car club jackets.

Ours used to be real cool until the club folded and it was made illegal in 96 states to wear one. The were a standard length wool coat with a full zip front. Just had the club name on the back, plain and simple, with the persons name on the front pocket. All embroidery none of this mechanic jacket with a pinned on name. I's post a pic but I'd probably be violating 18,549 copyrights.

  3. In the late-50's we were a low-buck and somewhat crude operation. We had red nylon jackets (ala James Dean...Rebel Without a Cause) with these embroidered patches on the back. :D

Just trying to get ideas... Chili... what were the cool cats wearing at Harvey's in 65?

  7. Here is a jacket that was my Fathers, from the early 50's. The Street Angels, of Santa Rosa, Calif. started in the very early 50's, and lasted into the 60's. This was a major car club, in NOR-Cal, with close to 80 members, and the club ran the Cotati Drag Strip every other Sunday. The jackets were made in LA, Calif, and were a heavy wool, purple in color, with snaps....Ed

  28. Here's how the Vipers do it.

People at the Ol' Harvey's Broiler, had Sultans, Cavaleers, Renegades, Cut Outs, Barons (bad guys, for sure), Tritons and a zillion others. Lots of Lion's and other dragstrip trophy jackets too. Plus SCTA winners jackets. And more than a few irridescent trenchcoats with the velvet collars. And don't overlook that this was when you could get a hand airbrushed monster sweatshirt from Roth, Baron or Watson for around $5.
