The one in the ebay auction is very intersting Graftmanship looks to be very good. The headlights are perhaps a bit to large and to much in your face, but the rest... is very interesting.

Barris did built this one below... I guess not all Barris customs where smooth and nice.
If the owner had the money to spend on it and his typical request.. I dont think Barris would turn it down...
The photo below shows both Sam and George workin on this "symilar styled" car...

I didn't bother to look on ebay. What did it start out as? As far as respect, sorry. There were some real ugly attempts at kustoms back in the day as there's also some today. Same reaction. Ugly has no timeline. Potential? Great parts car if you want those parts. It looks like a Volvo that wanted to be a Continental.

That's exactly what I believe that they are. I'll bet that his car was updated somewhere along the line. Other than the hideous front end treatment, it's a decent example of a very early '50s custom. I don't believe that Sam Barris did any of the styling work but I like it..:) It needs a 317 Lincoln Y-block under the hood to be right, though.

To make truth to the add, I talked to Jerry Turner today and the add is false there is no John Turner and Sam Barris has never been to Turners Auto Wrecking in Fresno. Jerry Turner said his fathers name was Robert and he was a salvager not a buider and Jerry did not appreciate this false advertisemant and he also said the car looks like a pile of SHIT.

They look like 70's Plymouth Satellite

  20. I remember seeing a similar headlight treatment done by Art Bentas using angel food cake pans for headlight bezels only the lights floated inside them. The paint treatment looks like Ford Crestliner circa 1950(lime green with a padded roof). Not sure about the park lamps. The rear looks like 41 Lincoln continental between 51 Frazer rear quarters.Definitely a Kaiser rear roof section but with a 46-48 Ford rear glass.

I kind of like it as I do a lot of old customs.

I dig it. It is so much better lookin' than that black, somebodies widow wants to save it piece of shit fom Tenessee or wherever the hell it was on here the other day there is no comparison.
I agree I'd prolly wanna do somethin a little different with the headlights and grille. But overall I dig the shit out of it.That thing is bitchin'.

Uhh.......I'm hoping that was a joke. If royalshifter says it you can count on it as being 101% truth. As far as Fresno Hot Rod history goes, we have embraced it............in the form of some guy named Blackie and a little truck you might have heard of called the Ala Kart. Theres tons of Hot Rod history in the Fresno area...........to bad there arent more guys currently keeping the torch burning.

It kind of reminds me of a cartoon car or something. It could be cool if you rework the grill and lights.

It would look nice with a 4"-5" roof chop, loose the turn signals and grill, add some smooth running boards, add a chrome grill with vertical bars, and smooth and simplify the bumpers. But as it sets, it too 'busy' and the proportions are off.

  27. the headlight rings look like 63'-64' failane tailight bezels? hope someone in the barris camp is gonna collect a royalty for the use of his name selling the car.

I think its butt ugly but has potentioal and YES I can fucking work lead.

  29. Rickster makes a very good point. Many of the customs were built per the owner's specs, not the builder. We can only fault the workmanship in a lot of cases, not the design.-MIKE:)
