Hi all, Thought I'd share these pics that I stumbled across recently. An old friend who p***ed away about 3 years ago was quite a car guy. (He was about 87 when he p***ed away.) I ended up with a couple of his cars, and a bunch of other old dealership stuff, but I recently ran across a couple of old photos that I got from his wife, that I thought you might like. This is a very accessorized '48 or so Ford coupe, with a before and after photo taken at the same location... I'm ***uming this was at his mom's house, and they sort of show how some guys here in the midwest sort of gussied-up their cars.... Just to make you CRINGE, I'll go ahead and tell the REST of the story... His name was Ray, and his wife hated his car hobby, so when he died, she desperately wanted to clear out the garage. What was in the garage? Well, for starters, how 'bout a 1953 Buick Skylark, that was last shown at the 1977 Easter Sunday Concourse D'Elegance.. . Stunning car... She GAVE this car to a local mechanic, just to haul it away. Yes, these things can still happen, circa 2003... Honest story.... Check out the pics of the old Ford from way back when...
Was that "Ray" who owned and operated the Pancake House in Anaheim on Lincoln Avenue? He had an amazing collection of Buicks from '36 or so on, all black converts. Doug Cook
not to highjack your thread but, I LOVE old B/W pic.s I just got my scanner working and here are some pic.s I picked up at the flea market. thanks for sharing...
Here's another, although totally unrelated to Ray's cars... This one was my dad's 54 Merc convertible that he modified back in the mid '50s. How many mods can you spot??? I have some other old pics that I've been meaning to scan... Like you "Happy Hoppy", I love those old pics... Enjoy, Kevin
Here is a shot of my father-in-laws '50 Merc. The photo was taken in the Bellflower area of California back in 1955.
