well, the deal is done! I have traded the gentleman in the pictures for the 1949 Plymouth Suburban. I will drag it home this week and get a jump on it, although I really don't know for certain what my plans are with it just yet. I think it may turn into a panel but mostly stock otherwise...... Check out that mirror hahaha
He will most likely through in the visor from the 1950 Dodge that lives behind the Suburban too. The Suburban runs and drives but I need to get some taillight lenses before I drive too much. Should be a fun one!
BTW, if anyone has any leads on taillight lenses that are decent enough for a driver and cheap enough for a bum, please let me know before I start building an all new taillight setup. The only ones I have found are $100.00 for a pair of lenses I know, I'm a dork but here is a good start for my ol' brain...
are yours broken? if they're just faded, go to your local parts store and buy a spray can of "metalcast" red to re-dye your lenses, it works great!
Yeah, the sad thing is I was almost done w/ it. I've had it for 6 years and did a V8/open drivline and all that good stuff to it. It's hard to part with the ol' gal but it is time to move on. I'm just tired of having the same ol' ride as the next guy (no offense 49-54 Chev guys & gals) I really dig the old chevys but I have had a real unhealthy relationship w/ this one Oh, and are you saying the 49 Plymouth has no potential??
Why, thanx! I sat on the decision for a couple of weeks and decided to jump in and go for it. Besides, that old chevy seriously hated my ass! I've been trying to sell it w/ no luck. Never ran it in the bargain post or anything but I really thought $1800.00 was a fair price for a good daily with all the updates I had done. Was a comfy old car and I will miss the SOB.
What's up with the twine-spun steering wheel? My '41 Plymouth had that too. Must be so your hands don't freeze to it when it's cold outside.
