Here is a pic from my wedding last August. This is my "back yard". Or as friends say, "my personal junkyard". I thought is was a pretty cool pic. And since nobody knows me, heres a face to put with the name.

Best thread ever! If it's not a sticky already, it should be made one.

Pulled a few photos from the family album.
Here's some photos of my Dad growing up in Beaumont, CA. We all know real Hot Rodders get their start early...
    Dad's soap box.jpg
Here he is a few years later about '56. He's on the left with the cigarette, working on his flattie-powered '33 3-window. I asked him the other day what he sold his coupe for, in around '57, he said he got a wopping $650.00 for it, and it had a new Olds Rocket in it with 6 deuces!

Here he is on the right, putting a flattie in one of the 3 other guys' '40 Ford. These pictures were taken in my Grandfather's welding shop; "Coleman's Welding". Any HAMBer's know any of these guys? Mid 50's in the Beaumont / Banning area of Cal. My Dad's name is Pat.

Here are a couple more pictures of the "Hot Rodders" behind the "Hot Rodding"
Here's Meagan & Zachary at 'Paso Robles' Westcoast Kustoms Show, in '98, in their hot rods their Daddie's built for them.

Here's "Royalshifter", John Hayes, & "Juke Joint Johnny", out back playin' with a Hemi.

Here's Penny Pichette's (Westcoast Kustoms pres.) Mom, getting her "Hot Rod Walker" striped in Paso Robles a couple of years ago, while she looks on. Never too old!

  8. Old 55....... I got the pictures from Wayne Arteaga in the 80's. They have been seen in gasser books and magazines before but Wayne doesn't have a book.
327-365hp.........That 32 coupe was featured in Hot Hod mag in the early 60's.It was also in HR Yearbook #2. Owners name was Sueege Jerger from Mansfield, OH.
Here are some more pics I like that I've scanned from various places.

This thread has been a fascinating look at the past for me. The photo of the Beebe and Mulligan Top Fuel car made me look into my collection of early drag racing here in Australia and I found a shot of the same car racing at Surfers Paradise in 1970. When I work out how to download I will send copy along with other early race cars. Just back from our Summernationals in Sydney, best meet in a long time. Next meet is Nostalgia,s at Willowbank here in Queensland, March 4th. Our Speed Week is also on in March,go to www.dlra.org for more info. Keep on roddin'.

  13. get learnin' A4ord, id love to see them! wish i was old enough to have seen fuel slingshots or any of the old racing tin for that matter here in australia.

Sorry I don't have the picture, but I think the May 52 Hot Rod cover with the kid jumping out of that red Dick Flint roadster to chase a chick crossing the street in front of them is my favorite.

Anyone got a pic of that cover ?

Yep! I've got the original magazine somewhere, couldn't find it, so...I took these images from an EXCELENT book entitled: "HOT ROD MILESTONES" by Ken Gross & Robert Genat. Here's the famous cover-shot you mentioned...

And here it is on the cover of HOP UP-Nov.'51
    flint 001.jpg
Here it is at the lakes in June of 1950. It's best time was in excess of 143 mph.

I highly recommend this book "HOT ROD MILESTONES"! This is one you could buy sight unseen. It covers about 25 historical Hot Rods with articles and great photos of the cars restored, and original photos from back in the day.

One of my all-time favorites. Hugh Tucker's AA/SR was the baddest street roadster in the country through most of the sixties. Saw him race Stone-Woods-Cook at Lions the very first time I ever went to the drags. I have not ever been the same since.

This car has been restored recently, and I met Hugh Tucker at SEMA a few years ago. He is a great guy, and remembered that match race, even after all these years.
