Thinking about the Power Tour leaving from Cleveland on June 2nd and ending in Little Rock June 8th. Anyone from Ohio planning on doing this deal? I am in Columbus and wonder if there are any die hards here who cant get enough wheel time? I did Americruise once with my wife and had a great time. I will be rolling in my Model A.
My buddy wants me to ride shotgun in his 47 Ford, but I have not commited to it yet. He is real anul and can be a drag about how you are treating his upholstery by leaning on the arm rest. Hell he doesn't drink so I don't think I'll go.
I've been thinking about it but I hate to take off that much time with Speed Week not to long after that. But on the other hand, how often does the tour start in our back yard? Contemplating.....

Same weekend as BilletProof Detroit.....in my backyard. I have done a number of Power Tours (3 time long hauler) over the years and they are a blast. You must have an open mind though when it comes to what some folks refer to as hot rods. "They" love their modern "hot rods" as much as we love our vintage ones. After doing a couple of very early ones, where Hot Rod Mag completely ran the event) and then one where they hired Family Events to run the event, well lets just say it wasn't the same. Family Events is in to to make money and it seemed Hot Rod Mag was in it to make sure everyone had the best time possible, period. Get me at an event and talking about this subject and I've got some great stories from the road.
You weren't the only one getting a head concusion on my deck lid. Problem is now solved by rounded corners and they look AWESOME!
i'll echo denise's comments. it's more of a clusterfork than anything. probably the best way to enjoy it, is to camp out on an overpass for the day it passes through. my opinion of 'special events' run events is extremely low. i still hate 'em for ruining the street nats...
It was more fun back when Top Hat John and Army Armstrong were MC'ing. It was more casual and about seeing this country in your hot rod as they would mention local attractions for more diverse things to experience. Last year was the first time since 98 that I didn't even make 1 stop ( family issues) but I'm gonna try and make a couple this year
I longhauled for my senior trip last year and had a blast, but it looks like I won't be making it this year.
I'm doing my best to make it this year, since it starts 10 miles from me. In a "latemodel" of course.
You know Top Hat John? Is this the same Top Hat John that eats cheese whiz on M&Ms? I know Top Hat John too, I'm sure there can only be one! He headed up the Chevy Silverado Drive for FarmAid this past fall that I went on. What a hoot!
Hey Megan, no I don't know him personally, he's a local car celeb on some local cable stations. Hey Nick s you need to take your Chevelle to keep Gerry's Chevelle company
I do know Top Hat John personally, and his live in girlfriend Vicky who I really, really like as well. He's usually at the Autorama on set up night. I'll ask him if he's attending on Saturday too and if so I'll make arrangments for you two to hook up and say hi. I've been using him to do my car appraisels for years. In my opinion he's the best in the Metro Detroit area. Very detailed.
Hahaha! I was giving some thought to installing the 2.56 12-bolt and the M20 crashbox, but common sense got the better of me That combo with that engine wouldnt like to stay UNDER 75mph too long, sicne the cam doesnt like to be under 2200 rpm lol Look for a Black 91 Trans Am with a cage.
